A major squad overhaul on a reduced budget was never going to be an immediate hit, especially with some unfortunate injuries. It may yet come right, but I am starting to seriously doubt it.
Warnock is only here for another eight months.
This squad is better than last season, but still a long way off a play off outfit, so I am already looking to the future from a Championship starting point.
Given Gibson only takes available managers and given Frank Lampard has been my preferred choice since before he took the Derby job, I would move heaven and earth to get him in, given he is available, and I would make it clear to everyone that he would be here as long as he wanted to be.
I have affection and some respect for Warnock, but given the choice of course I would switch immediately to the man I would most want to lead us.
Steve Gibson has proven to be a very poor judge of horseflesh in recent years and unfortunately I don't see him having the vision or persuasive powers to attract Lampard.
Losing to a very bad Hull side so meekly after another false dawn is a very concerning result from a very very poor performance.
