Now that Newcastle are in the Champions League

I didn’t say they couldn’t offer regular CL football, I said they couldn’t offer it this season and it would give them an advantage over Chelsea when buying players. Liverpool, like Manchester Utd, will always be able to attract players.
Maybe you forgot to add 'this season' to the end of the sentence.

"A lot of top players want to and expect to play in the Champions League and they may look at Newcastle as a team that can offer this to them on a regular basis (or the Saudi money can). This is something that Liverpool, Spurs and Chelsea can't offer."

I meant next season by that - apologies.

I think we will see a slightly higher class of footballer being attracted to the Saudi millions next season and Newcastle to kick on even further. I don't expect the Mags to set the CL alight and think that is another learning curve but could honestly see them challenging for domestic trophies and a successful team will attract further players.

Next season will be telling with them playing in Europe and competing on the domestic front but I do feel the money they have will allow them to handle that better than Spurs did.

Sunderland's present squad could still beat them though. 🤣 🤣 🤣
You sound like a closet mag

I think the only way is up for them. Some of their current first team will become squad players with current squad players being shown the door.

Their stronger and deeper squad will handle the extra games so long as Eddie Howe himself can adapt, and I see no reason why not.

They'll be up there for a long time to come.

Next season will be the real test. The expectation will be massive, few bad results and Eddie will be under pressure. I can see it now.
True, and don’t forget all the other big clubs will be strengthening and United are about to be taken over.

A lot of people seem to think it’s a foregone conclusion that Newcastle will go on to win everything but there’s every likelihood they just establish themselves in the top 4-5 and win nowt. It’s still a huge improvement.

What happens when Arsenal and Liverpool are also taken over by oil states? That’s coming next.

It’s true they got big money at a time when all the others have it as you say Man City etc aren’t going anywhere.

Let's all celebrate sportswashing.

Bravo. Bravo. 👏👏👏👏

It's totally hollow for me, same as City, PSG etc. State owned but the powers that be are very reluctant to do a proper investigation.....wonder why🤔🤔

Nah, don't agree at all with Newcastle being top 4 somehow improves the PL and makes it more competitive. It will just drag transfers and players wages even higher - and as we've seen this has a horrendous knock on effect to the rest of football.

Not good for football, especially English football, at all.

There was a rumour when ronaldo left Utd that if they qualified for champions league he would end up "loaned" there (Newcastle) but no idea if any substance to it

Not with Howe as manager. I think he has reached his ceiling - not particularly inspiring and reasonably defensive which will get found out at CL level and probably in the premier league when they have many more games to juggle players around. I think Howe will be gone once Newcastle go out of the CL early.
That's my prediction because i've never rated him as a top manager.

I have always rated Howe as a coach. If Newcastle buy wisely and buy square pegs for square holes, assess the personalities of signings and consider human qualities, Howe and Newcastle will flourish, however, if they do a Chelsea and spend big without thinking about the bigger jigsaw and the knitting of a squad together in harmony, he will struggle.

How much control will Howe have over the players that come into the set up? Probably not as much as people think. I have no doubt Tuchel and Potter were and still are excellent coach’s, but if the recruitment is lazy, the changing room divided, the squad size not optimised, then the output will be poor irrespective of the quality of the Head Coach, but people, sadly, will always judge the Head Coach rather than the recruitment team or individual players themselves.

Man City didn't get to where they are now overnight. That's the model Newcastle need to follow.

I like Eddie howe!! As for the rest of anything to do with Newcastle United, its a No from me, hope they go bust, can't stand them they are the northern version of Spurs!!

Similar to City, Newcastle need to make the league their priority over the next few seasons with top four finishes a priority and good cup runs/trophy wins. No doubt they will gain experience from playing in the CL.

Spurs and Chelsea are in London. Newcastle are in Newcastle. That makes a difference to overseas players. They'll have to offer a significant premium.

But when they get to Europe, they won’t be able to chant ‘Boro at home, watching the Bill’, as the Bill hasn’t aired for a few years now.

Newcastle is a party city and London is only 1hr away by plane. I also don't think that wages will be an issue for the guys with the dirty money.
