People knocking Teessiders for voting for Houchen.

“Bullies”……..grow up!!

Come on then, bearing in mind we’re talking in years now since it started, how many “skilled, high paid” jobs has all Houchen’s mouthing off produced or likely to produce any time soon? Let’s not forget we’re talking about “thousands” here.
None, the mayor hasn't the capability of producing any, have a look at his remit. He's sold land off, almost given it away, to two local businessmen, and it sounds as if one of them no longer is local. He's caused problems for an established local company for which legal fees have had to be spent.

Those I know who voted Tory gave reasons for which the Tories are actually to blame.

And it's time to stop this 'airport brings in business' nonsense. It doesn't, it never has on a scale that makes it worth the subsidy. How many Dutch companies have shifted workloads to Teesside due to the regular service, how many brought in business from London when that service was running?

It's the bullshyt and lies that are repeated by morons who don't want to look past what the papers report. Unfortunately some of those people can be read on this message board.

I caught up with some friends yesterday and the subject got onto the election - all voted for Houchen. I quickly realised I was in the minority at the table. To be honest, I couldn’t be bothered challenging it as it wasn’t worth my time and disruption to my breakfast.

What I quickly realised though is that to the every day voter, who aren’t hugely engaged in politics (which I would say is true of my mates in this instance) is they see the headlines in The Gazette and follow Houchens social media etc. (which he keeps completely locked down of any criticism by deleting posts and blocking people) and they buy it.

Likewise, a lot still feel really let down by Labour over the years and that criticism is shared amongst circles and is hard to shift. Some of it justified some of it just because it’s a narrative they’ve heard pushed by friends etc. and they’ve jumped on the bandwagon.

Houchen is a corrupt fat slug in my eyes, but the average every day voter isn’t buying copies of Private eye. They’re blind to some of the other stuff.

They see the airport, they see what’s happening at Tees works and they see those as really positive things.

I do think labelling people as thick or bad people for voting a particular way is counter productive. It just pushes people further back into their views.

That said, my mates voted Houchen for what they see as “delivery” of getting things done - they read the headlines. They don’t necessarily scrutinise the finer detail / reality of what’s actually happening. I don’t see many of them voting Tories at the next election either. It was a vote for Houchen, nothing more.

They’re living in echo chambers - the same as the left (myself included at times). How you break that, I’m not too sure. People seem to become more tribal as time goes on and it’s got to the point where I find it a waste of time debating these things with friends.
You add to that the huge social media presence where more lies are propagated, spivs pile on to further legitimise the lies and you have a perfect storm.

The way Facebook and the like algorithms are really dangerous.

Social media in general has totally corrupted democracy. The politically naive are so easily taken in, especially when one party has the funds and backing that the other party doesn't.

I could almost scream with despair though at the Labour attempts to win this election. They need to stop and have a really hard think how they approach the general election. They need to go on full attack, explain where the Tory's have corrupted and how much of the public purse they have thrown away/stolen. And what that money means to the economy.

From the costs and losses of Brexit, tax avoidance, Rwanda scene, covid waste and the Covid frauds etc etc. it's probably north of £100 billion easy.

Ignore the laughs and the childish replies, you've put a good post together there.

Whether the majority of the bullies on this board like it or not, they are in the minority. They speak with aggressive tones and hound those with a different opinion. But that's usually the case - the silent majority decided to vote for Houchen.
Excellent, well considered and firm rebuttal to every point made in the discussion. I wish I could have seen it so clearly. I doff my hat sir 🎩.

I’m not in the Tees valley area anymore so don’t really feel it’s my place to comment on the politics in this area, it’s really down to the people that currently live there to have the say on the things that affect them.

The opportunity was there for you to have your say but being the needy guy you are the thought of becoming a member of the Labour Party means you can't have your cake and eat it.
I was a Labour Party member. I had my say and the PLP decided they didn't want to abide by the democratic decision of the membership.

They topped that up with a campaign of lies and smears around antisemitism and paved the way for the likes of Houchen to use similar methods across social media etc.

I left in disgust at a party that lost it's soul.

You haven't been missed.

There is a magic money tree. It's called the Bank of England. If Labour took the time to explain nation-scale economics to the public instead of going along with the idea it works like a housewife's budget we wouldn't be in the mess we're in.
Ooh sexist.

WOOOSH I was being facetious about previous Tory comments

Easily pleased if you think that was a good post, no wonder you like the Tories.

Bullies 😂 minority 😂 nobody is hounded, you are asked to justify a stance, you either can do that or run away and claim you have been “hounded by bullies” the choice is entirely yours

But there isn’t a magic money tree, and in future there will be far more competition for it, so this short term sweetener won’t be available anymore
WOOOSH I was being facetious about previous Tory comments
Which bit is you being facetious? The bit where you say there isn't a magic money tree or the bit where you back that up by pointing out that the lack of a magic money tree means there'll be less money available in future?

Or is the whole thing some elaborate joke that only you're in on?

You'd come across as a lot less of a doyle if you just admitted you were wrong once in a while instead of forever trying to pretend you meant something you obviously didn't.

And that's the attitude I've come to expect. I'm not wanted so why do you care what I think, or who I vote for?
You're right I don't care what you think but you seem to expend a lot of energy talking about the Labour Party whether you've been prompted to or not. All negative, no tangible suggestions for improvement, just whining and moaning.

When it comes to politics and the Labour Party you are a very needy individual.

Oh ffs, I really can’t be bothered with your nonsense today. It was a facetious comment that the Tories always comment about things needing to be fully funded, there isn’t a magic money tree etc. but at the same time are now claiming there’s some magic money tree just for the people of Teesside. It’s cake and eat it nonsense. I’m fully aware that we can print money and invest it and although it isn’t with zero economic cost it’s a far better strategic view than pretending that the economy is a household budget. This is not news to me.

Now find yourself an empty room, and start your argument there, because it’s not welcome here today, you absolute 🔧

I’m just gonna block you’re just negative energy and abuse, I mean YOU calling anyone a Doyle for not admitting they are wrong over something, unbelievable!
