Well, I think we have to be consistent. Abu Hamza was convicted under the same Public Order Act as Lucy Connolly. He was widely described as a "radical hate preacher" at the time, and I have no problem with that description. I also have to ask does that description not apply to Connolly too, given what she advocated?

Now there's still some trivializing her actions because she only posted it on social media. I will not deny the power of a really good orator, and online posting loses some of that impact. However, posting it online reaches a much larger audience, and hangs around far longer than any live speech. I've said before, posting on social media is not the same as saying something to your mates in the pub. It's the modern equivalent of standing in a soapbox in town and shouting your opinions at the world, except what you say lasts longer.

I assume that the freedom of speech absolutists and apologists who say she's been jailed for saying nasty things on the internet also oppose Hamza's conviction on these charges, and his right to freedom of speech?

It's funny that's none of these despicable ***** are interested in crimes committed by white people, kids being raped, murders , serial killers, all get off scott free on social media
