Just to put in perspective what a Labour candidate - a female one too - has to face standing as a candidate for the Pallion ward in Sunderland a friend sent this comment as she finished her campaigning. I despair that a Labour candidate faces such intimidation and downright lies and smears in the North East.

I am the most hated person in Pallion, I am a wannabe porn star with no brains… the list goes on and on and the more serious offences were reported to police.

Despite this crap I want to represent my community and I will get stuff done. So if you live in the Area where I am standing In the local election, if you think I am the right person for the job or if you have NEVER voted before in your life put a big fat juicy ❌ in the box next to Karen Noble on Thursday May 5th to show these lying bullies that their underhand tactics do not work 🙌🙌

1. Every EU person resident in this country had to apply to stay in this country, whether they'd been here 1 day or 40 years. More than 200,000 had their application refused.

2. They currently live in the Netherlands. He won't qualify on income grounds.

3. The paperwork won't change; it's the paperwork that we currently use for shipping to non EU countries; it's just that we haven't had to use it for nearly 30 years for what have previously been next day or 2 day deliveries. That includes people at either end of the chain as well as the intermediaries who deal with logistics and customs clearance. This is the chain from DHL for our consignment. I don't know whether we'll get paid for the consignment or not. It's not been affected by a force majeure event, so can't use that.

I'm anti-tory, and always have been. I also have a low tolerance for ignorance. We live in a world where there is a wealth of information at our finger tips, and a little bit effort can sort the wheat from the chaff. There isn't any excuse for not educating oneself. There is no excuse for not understanding that brexit would be a terrible idea other than intellectual slobbery underpinned by prejudices.

I doff my cap to achievement, in adversity. I respect, knowledge, intellect, effort. I don't respect loud ignorance, intellectual laziness, prejudice. If that offends, then that's your problem not mine.

This situation was all predictable, and predicted so I'm not going to go easy on anyone daft enough to have bought the clear lies, and fantasy.

All you had to do was ask, where is the post brexit strategy, a clear document that laid out clear benefits.....there wasn't one, at least not a publically available one. That's despite 20 years of the ERG. So that leads to a simple conclusion, any benefits that were identified, were not benefits for the wider public, but for members of the ERG and their financial backers.

no idea about his mental health, but he's got a dark and twisted view of the world. He's utterly entrenched in this tory/brexit apologist view, it's dishonest and rambling, and confused. I think he thinks he's putting forward some kind of powerful message.....he is.....just not the the message he thinks he's putting forward.

My god that was lucid and without your normal silliness. If that's how it is spelt.

I will say this for the 1000th time I was neither for or against Brexit. I did unlike most on both sides understand how the EU was used as a cash cow for most countries, and the unbelievable level of corruption, including in the UK. Try and do business in Italy it's a nightmare, we failed. Go to Brussels or Strasbourg. It makes no sense, and on a Friday it's shut.

For me personally I have nothing in common with Hungary, the aggressive right wing parties, any of the Slovak countries, or Greece. It was simply too big.

That was never it's intent, Slovenia should have zero say in a single minor British law, zero.

However this has to be measured against the benefits it gives including trade. No matter what people say in here I have nothing against any people's of any country. Once you get politicians involved there main aim is to win votes in their own countries.

I doubt 95%, of this country could name a single MEP, it was time to give up.

I do understand why Sunderland and the rest voted leave, they were skint in 1974 and still skint today.

Incidentally Lefty brought a great point up about the GFA, I don't know the answer. But I am convinced there will be no border eventually, I know I would lock my children in a prison rather than let them police it.

Can you expand?

That you say you would 'lock my children in a prison rather than let them police it' means that you appreciate that even now, after 20+ years of relative peace following the GFA, policing an internal border in Northern Ireland, if it returned, has a substantial risk of being extremely dangerous. Do I have that right?
