The threshold for developing a new flu vaccine is when the old vaccine reduces effectiveness to an eighth. I read this yesterday in one of the publications I referenced above that's covering the latest SA variant research.

To be fair to the OP he posts regularly and isn't one for trying to stir or cause concern. He is a very good poster and we have to understand the whole situation is causing everyone alarm. Having read what he did last night, I understand why he was feeling worried. Let's not forget that this is so much more than just a football message board that we have, it is a community and that's why people sometimes post things that are worrying them and why sometimes people post things just to clear their thoughts.

I've no doubt the OP didn't intend in any way to cause distress to anyone and in some ways, it's a positive that people feel this forum CAN be an outlet when they've got worries or things on their minds. For all of our differences we are all human and look out for each other and perhaps the OP just needed a little reassurance or some other posters with different knowledge to be able to challenge the info that was causing him a bit of worry.

It's a great forum let's all keep it that way (y)

Good article that, thanks. Sorry if it seems that I was trying to minimise your situation, and you're right making comparisons when someone has depression isn't helpful. I just meant in general that although the last years been pretty awful for a lot of people we still all have a lot to be grateful for.

If we do need to eventually alter the vaccines, which is very possible, it’s actually not as big a deal as most of us would think.
One key bit of good news for the U.K. going forward, and that many seem to be unaware of, is the fact that we are constructing one of the worlds largest vaccine manufacturing plants in Oxfordshire, which will be capable of manufacturing enough vaccines for the entire population in about 4 to 6 months. I believe this was planned some years ago, as a response to growing threat of future pandemics, but the construction was brought forward due to this pandemic. Think it’s due to open this year.

I think the key question is how regularly will mass vaccinations be necessary, given that they may need to be re-engineered to deal with new variants and we don't really know how long their effectiveness will be.

I wouldn't have said that, it's not a term I would say and don't threaten people with violence. Happy to discuss / argue but I don't threaten people so I think u may be mistaken

I've told you the thread has been deleted and I was getting it from about 20 other disgruntled individuals so all the abuse kind of merged into one so I can't say who was responsible for which
