Prem Relegation Spots.....

This must be the worst points return for the bottom three teams at this point in the season - even worse they are not even cut adrift.

Norwich are gone
Watford are losing a few players to the African Nations - key players to and they already seem dreadful.
Burnley dont seem to be scraping points together like previous seasons.

Sadly i think a handful of average signings will be enough for Newcastle to see them safe.

Burnley, Watford and Norwich for the drop.

Lets just hope we are replacing one of them

Looks like Norwich plus 2 from Watford, Burnley and Newcastle. I think Everton and Leeds will just about stay above the surface though Everton's board might panic.
Pretty sure Watford will go down so it's going to come down to Dyche's nous against Newcastle's chequebook. Historically 35 points is enough to stay up. Last year 29 points was enough to stay up and I suspect that will be the same this year as well. Looking at the next few games, I can see Newcastle getting 2-3 wins by the end of February while Burnley have a real horror show coming up. It feels like this season is the season that Burnley finally succumb to gravity; if so I think they may crash down a long way.

I get the feeling Newcastle could almost muddle through and sneak out of trouble as others are so awful. Watford must be due a new manager soon?

And you would think the purse strings at Burnley may be loosened to get them a bit of quality to get a few points.

Watford and Norwich currently look done for, Burnley could get out of it, Newcastle with a couple of signings and a confidence boost probably will get out of it.

If you were Trippier would you take a 2.5 year rotation deal at Chelsea or United, or a £150k a weeks 4.5 year deal off the daft Geordies? Last contract most likely, will it effect his England chances a great deal, he's not often first choice now anyway is he?
I’d take £100k to have a chance at winning the PL / Champions League with Chelsea or United, and guarantee my England spot for the World Cup, over £150k to possibly end up in the Championship and play for a basket case club with so much uncertainty.

It’s not like Man United would be offering him peanuts like £20k or something, I think Wan-Bissaka’s on £120k.

Edit: England’s a big deal in a World Cup year as well, especially one we’ve got a chance of winning.

TSadly, I think Newcastle will stay up, but only because there are 3 worse teams.

Norwich are going down, I think Burnley's charmed life has finally ended and Watford look nailed on now.
Newcastle’s BILLIONS should help buy them 17th place?

1 point off ROCK bottom, they are in a worse position than they would have you believe. Burnley still have two games on them. Lots of talk of them bringing in superstars, dancers and tricksters. They need a solid back six imo!

If I got the chance to take £8 million out of Newcastle's pocket plus signing on fees etc. I think I'd take it.

But yeah, I'm not sure what his trophy haul is currently. He may want some more silverware before he retires, more chance of that at Chelsea than Man U you would think though!

Nah Coutinho and Aubamayeng up top will probably see them sneak into the Europa league, divin ya kna leek?

I dont understand honestly why people think Newcastle are likely to stay up. In 2021, their "points per game" was worse than ANYONE in the top 4 divisions. One win all season so far.

And who is going to sign for them, in reality? They are only going to get players coming to the end of their careers after one last pay day. Trippier is the very best they can hope for i suspect.

And, added to that, Eddie Howe. Its hardly like they have Pep and Klopp etc - they have a pretty average manager, a poor squad, in poor form, in a dreadful situation.

i dont see many reasons to be optimistic.

If any decent player opts to join the second bottom, failing, Premier League relegation scrappers, in January - it has to be for big money.
11 points out of a potential 51!
Its hard to believe they are only one point better than Norwich.
If the Canaries are dead and buried then the Skunks must be the lid on relegation.
A good thud into the Championship might be a solid reminder that no one deserves to be in the Prem.

One win is absolutely terrible. Guaranteed relegation in any other season but four poor, poor teams down there.

Thing is, Burnley and Dyche have precedent for turning it around and are exactly the kind of team who can tighten up and just grind out clean sheets. I respect Dyche for having done that before but do wonder if their time is up and if the same squad have got another battle in them.

Howe, and Newcastle, do not and are not. Unless they sign six new defenders and Howe suddenly learns how to coach defenders.

It'll be interesting to see where they spend.

As a few have said, they need solid PL quality players who will graft and work for the team through their entire spine really.

But more than anything, they need goals, early goals and the belief that your forwards can score takes a bit of pressure off the defence.

It's the first time I'll be happy to see Burnley go on their traditional escape run of results, as it would virtually guarantee that Newcastle would go down.

Not a huge fan of Burnley, but they're a damn sight better than the house of Saud on the Tyne

I still think it'll be the current 3 going down.

I also sadly think that if I'm wrong on that, it won't be Newcastle that replaces one of them.
They've picked up too many points lately.

Yes Brentford look really poor now and most teams have at least 2 games in hand. Watford and Norwich have too much to do but can see Burnley grinding results out.

I’ve always felt Burnley could escape , they’ve proven it in the passed . Their new striker is off the mark and I’d 2 off wood who only had 3 goals . Leeds and Brentford have always been a high probability risk
I love to see one of the old big 5 pretenders in Everton to get a touch of reality and drop . It shows you money doesn’t always buy everything

Hope so, like to see Burnley survive, I have a lot of time for Burnley & Dyche in the way they survive in the PL

Burnley could well drag someone else into the drop zone with 2 games in hand. I would love to see Newcastle go down, but that seems unlikely now.
