promotion or win fa cup?

Rather beat Luton than Spurs tbh bit deaftist I know but cannot see us winning the cup in the end

Same.

If it was a straight choice between the outcomes, I would say win the FA Cup, quite happily, but there's far more chance of us getting promoted.

When I first read that I questioned "far more chance". We only have to win four matches to win the FA Cup. However, considering that there's a decent chance that two of those would be against Liverpool, Chelsea or Man City, and by that stage they'll be fielding strong teams.... I agree that the chances of winning the FA Cup are tiny.

(That said, I think the chances of us being promoted via the play-offs are pretty small too). :(:(

I am sure Steve Gibson disagrees with most of you. Promotion could mean money, investment, hopefully progression through playing and competing with the best. F.A.Cup victory is yesterdays chip paper a few days later these days.

For City or Chelsea fans no doubt Coluka but for a club like ours it would represent an historic and never forgettable achievement and thats what football represents. Personal moments.

That said I just hope we give a great account of ourselves this evening no matter what the result.

back in the day 40 or 50 years ago I would have said the FA cup. I used to dream of us winning it all the time and the hardest losses as a Boro fan were Birmingham, Orient, Wolves in the 6th round can still feel the pain now. However, another question would you swap Sunderland 73 cup win against Leeds for our 73/74 promotion season not sure which way I would go on this, as we still have the memories of the promotion season probably my best season as a fan watching the Boro

Interesting how many are incapable of answering the question asked! 😂

FA cup win all day long for me. It's a sport, the point is to try and win things surely? I suspect Gibson himself would be torn. The businessman would prefer promotion. The fan in him would want the trophy.

There are obviously very good reasons for preferring promotion but most are linked to the ridiculous money on offer in the prem and costs of running a club. Sensible, logical but boring and depressing reasons.

Give me sporting glory. For a club like it ours it doesn't come round very often.

I disagree I ‘d sooner be competing with the best week in week out as eventually, providing you get it right of course, that gives the best opportunity to actually win things.

Nah, not at all. SPORTING GLORY innit!

The whole point of being part of a competition is to win, money and investment would be.. to win silverware.

We can but dream..
