Recruiment

I cant argue with the OP

We are one of, if not the WORST recruitment in world football.

In fact everything about the club is the worst in world football.

Will this misery never end??????

Some teams like Macclesfield and Bury etc have all the luck!

.. he looks stronger defensively
Does he?
He got tortured for 90 mins on Saturday. He keeps being caught out with cross field balls. He cost us a goal against WBA through a horrific error and then made about 3 or 4 errors straight after because he was panicked.

I'm not saying he definitely won't be better but I can't see how you can come to that conclusion on what we've seen so far.

Alex Bangura hasn’t even started a game.. he might be our first choice left back.
I agree. He might be. I think there's a good chance he will be. He's also an unknown.

Latte and Rogers do not need to produce as much as Akpom.. Sheffield and Luton both got promoted with less goals than us.
Agree we don't need to score as many goals (as long as we can start keeping them out, (which we are showing no signs of at the moment) but for your comment to make sense that we have a stronger squad than we did last season then the players that have come in need to be better than the ones that have gone out. There is absolutely no evidence of that so far.

Its all relative isnt it. Its alot easier to recruit better plauers if you ate in premier league with all the money. Id like to see brighton recruit a squad of 12 players with just 15million for fees and salaries. Theyd be fishing in a smaller pond that what fati is fished from.

He's still finding his feet and he shouldnt be hung drawn and quartered after an early mistake. Remember Jonathan Woodgate at Real Madrid?

You can come to the conclusion that Engel is weaker than Giles... but I cannot say he is stronger defensively? I've seen him defend better than GIles.

the fear of the unknown..

there is a whole lot of evidence to show that,, we are creating more chances than we did at this stage last season and we have players in that can play rather than players that are injured.. or not on loan to us yet.. in the case of replacements for Ramsey and Archer.

Makes me laugh people saying about how bad our recruitment is. Last season that same recruitment team assembled possibly one of the most exciting Boro sides many of us have ever seen, and possibly will see, especially in the second half of the season. Its funny how we are getting pelters for assembling a young squad, yet just cos Sunderland put 5 past Southampton on Saturday they are the future of football according to the press cos they have signed any players under 25 in the last 3 windows.

I accept that there's a lot of unknowns and we can only judge on what we have seen so far. You made the statement that this squad is a LOT stronger than the squad last year. How can you make that statement with a lot of unknowns. Especially when early viewing suggests otherwise.

We can carry on creating as many chances as we want all season but if we haven't got the players to put them away it won't matter
