So well I'm reliably informed that...

We have £14m to spend in January.

That Warnock walked away without taking a penny.

That Warnock is to remain living in Helmsley as his daughter has just got a top job in JCUH.

I did get told a few more things but they are personal to Warnock so I'll refrain from sharing.

So anyway... £14m... Where is it going to get spent? 🤔

We get who the club wants and who will do the best job for Wilder.

I said the other week for us to get wilder we’d have had to assure him that we’d back him financially.

I doubt anyone knows the real sum as in its 14 mil but it’s clear we have money now

I suppose it depends on players leaving - wasn't there talk of Fry being looked at by a Prem team, Is Djed coming back? etc

I meant more about the areas we need to strengthen: eg, if Fry were to go, that would be the area to strengthen. It's going to be interesting to see how things unfold.

Always worry when we have 'money to spend'........will Chris Wilder be getting 'January gifts'?

If we do have £14m I'd be tempted to save it for next season.
Not for me, we’ve got to get Wilder some of his own squad as soon as possible, firstly to give us a chance of the playoffs, or, as I assume you’re implying, we don’t go up, but then it gives him 5 months to mould a team to his own way of playing, which means next summer we are strengthening rather than starting from scratch.

January is notoriously difficult for getting the players you want at the right price.

I very much doubt we have 14m, for transfers, but maybe, if you include wages in that too.

But it is a waste of time spending in Jan, as I think the top 3/ promoted teams are already pretty much decided. In Jan there is a lasser choice of players, they cost more, less time to assess the squad before then and assess what we need. Plus not many contracts are up in Jan, which sets the ball rolling on many transfers, like a chain reaction.

I'd rather we had a go with what we had, and then tried to target key areas to have a good push next year, I think that would give us a better chance of promotion collectively.

I wonder if he might spend a few quid on a keeper and maybe a twenty plus goalscorer. Get that right and the extra points could see you in the frame.
I think Sporar could be that with the right service around him. I'd love a really threatening ball carrier with a great shot and set piece delivery on him.

If we can improve our defensive organisation by 20% and our decision making in the attacking third and set-pieces by 20% we'd fly up the league.

I think he'll be able to improve our defenders enough to make us solid, I think for a couple of specialist positions for 'the Wilder way' (if that is what we are to try and achieve) will need some signings. The attacking link/creative spark would be one, unless he sees enough in Payero or Tav to mould them into that player?

I'd like to see Stojanovic given a run before we spend on a keeper, but he'll see them all in training I suppose and know if he's going to trust any of them to be his outright number 1.

Sporar and Uche are good enough I think, but like you say, they need the service (from better players) or the service sorting out tactically, so we get more from them.

It depends on Horses for Courses though, Wilder might rate Sporar and Uche, but it doesn't mean they will fit the system he wants to play, that;'s one thing we need to consider.

Defence is good enough I think, but they need to stay fit, and cut down on the errors.

The best we can hope and it is only a hope, is for a play off place. If there is a plan to build towards a concerted push next season then fair enough. Just hope we do it with realistic expectations and that includes amongst fans as well.
