Still no denial from Wilder

Maybe I'm clutching at straws, but maybe he's trying to deflect any of the focus from the players - who are clearly struggling with the pressure onto something else. I suppose if he's the story then there's less focus on the players poor performances.

I don't know. I really hope he isnt going anywhere.
Defo clutching at straws he’s not deflecting focus off the players when he’s actively criticised them. Not once has he held his hands up and said that he’s dropped a bollokc.. which he has quite a few times now.

I'm afraid not, the players seem to have stopped playing, and we have a manager that won't deny reports that he is moving to a championship bound club with perhaps slightly less ambition that our club. We need rid of him quick before this really causes long term damage. This has the potential to be another Gaston situation

This could cause huge long term damage to us. I was hopeful in the summer that by selling Spence we could be in a position to convince the rest of our high value players to give it one more season, really buy into Wilders plan and have a good go at going up next year.

If we have to start looking for a new manager it massively destabilises the club and puts us at much bigger risk of our value players heads being turned.

It also needs to be said that Burnley have been utter 5hithouses in all of this. It would appear they have approached a few in-situ managers at a critical time of the season, derailing the end of season push. Hope they go down and stay down

Yeah, 100% feels like the Gaston situation.

Don’t think we’ve had it with a manager before.. it’s always something that has come out later on. McClaren with Newcastle and Monk with.. Swansea was it?

Burnley may very well be a more attractive option for him. The chance to save a premier league club, the chance to make more money than he’s ever made before and the chance to mold a squad/team 100% in his own image.. all be it with a little assistance from our recruitment team. He’ll be on more money and have a bigger budget. He’s said he’s ambitious and he wants to play prem teams week in week out.. our mistake was thinking that was thinking he only wanted to do that with us!

Gibson would take £3m compo right now I would have thought and drop Daniel Farke in there ASAP

The players that are going would be going anyway.. the only chance of damage is if our recruitment has identified players that Wilder then scoops up for Burnley.

Big rebuild due in the summer one way or another.. not sure the players we’ve identified so far fill me with THAT much confidence..

looking like Sol for the next 4 games ..... he is off, he would have pulled the journos head off who mentioned it if it was crap ..... not to deny is a big yes hes off for me

It's not a great situation. I felt that the players looked uneasy and unsettled from the off yesterday. Then there was the arguing amongst themselves and the substitution confusion and gestures to the bench, it all reminded me of the performance at Charlton after the Karanka brouhaha.😕

Burnley have quite a number of their first team out of contract this summer. They need a huge rebuild regardless of division and if that happens to be the Championship they'll have next to no money to spend due to the debt they have.

They're looking to take one last gamble at staying in the PL but if it doesn't work they'll become a basket case club and are more likely to go down than up.

I think it's because it felt like something was being built both on and off the pitch and CW was instrumental in that process. Fans are bound to feel let down.
We would, but without knowing the facts we haven’t been let down yet. Fans are over analysing everything everyone says.

Personally, I don't think he will go but I think the issue is that he should have categorically said NO. It suggests that he isn't as invested as we thought he was.

Huge rebuild! To compete in the prem they’d need the likes of McNair, Fry, Tavernier, Spence..

Oh.. oh noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Yes, well, after the Ben Gibson situation Steve Gibson is definitely not the man for Burnley to be doing easy business with.
On the other hand Boro through Scott and Wilder are already putting in a plan for next season - competing on a higher plain wage budget wise and earmarking targets and already decided who is for the exit door.
We will see what the future holds but not sure it is quite so cut and dried as people might make out. I was talking to one of the senior exec after the game at Bournemouth and he seemed extremely relaxed.

You’d think it would make it all that much easier to come out with a simple response regarding the Burnley links!

I don’t think folks think it’s cut and dried, people are annoyed that he’s being snakey with his multiple responses to a straight forward question.

Senior execs are always cool as cucumbers! If anything is going down then it will be sorted by now.

The worse thing for me would be if Wilder is off but has been given the chance to finish the season out with us!
