Still no denial from Wilder

Maybe someone has brought connolly and balogon in with contracts requiring them to play every match. They haven’t helped the season one bit and now he’s took the huff

Rooney reply when asked same question

Discussing the links, Rooney said: “I think it is a compliment to me and the staff, and what we have been trying to do here [at Derby], when you are getting linked with Premier League clubs.

“I was surprised when I saw Sean Dyche had been sacked, he has been brilliant for Burnley for the last 10 years.

“I have seen the links in various news articles but for me what is important is I focus on trying to keep the club [Derby] in this division and the future, my future, depends on this takeover, that needs to be completed.”

Excellent answer

About the Burnley job. His press conference he just said he's emotional and shouldn't be asked after a defeat
Got a terrible feeling
It may have been a clumsy answer but I think the comment about being emotional is right and the result probably clouded his mind and he was unable to articulate the usual stonewalling answer. Would not read too much into it.

I have never been a Rooney fan even as a player. But I am actually starting to like him as a manager. Because of his name he probably could of got a job at a Prem club but he has started off in the Championship to learn his trade and stuck by Derby through the troubles and isn't doing a bad job under the circumstances. He has went up in my estimations a great deal over the past few months.

He has worked wonders there. Despite the massive points deduction they all most pulled it off

Another thing to mention, and might not be anything in it, but the MFC social media team always refer to Wilder as “the boss” or “the gaffer”, but today they used his full name. As I say, probably nothing in it, but it didn’t quite look right, or consistent with every other post match interview link they’ve posted.

Yeah, the social media team would know and then word tweets slightly differently, because they’re so clever and cryptic 😂

It’s made me think of when he was appointed. It was all over the media that it was going to happen, then another club sacked their boss and were linked with him so we took the unusual step of announcing it on the Sunday morning, when it was apparently set for later in the week. I think Wilder or the club really needs to address this properly tomorrow morning and put it to bed once and for all.

Reminds me of when I'd just started seeing a new girlfriend and she asked "do you think we'll be together forever?" and I replied with "I hope so, but who knows!"

Went down about as well as this has 😂😂

For the record I had no intention of leaving, but eventually I did. An apt comparison to football managers I think!

Don't they know it's has to be Chris on all PR

According to The Athletic, who are always well informed, Burnley would ideally like the new manager installed before their next game, which is on Thursday.

So they are looking to make a quick appointment and are continuing to interview candidates that began at the weekend.

My guess is that CW is one of those under consideration, hence he has be so non-committal when asked.

Whatever happens we should know pretty soon.
