Sue Gray report going through legal checks

David Cameron’s name for Johnson apparently was…The Greased Piglet, because of his ability to slither away from every mess he got himself into.
No wonder it’s been said that he’s now back to his old self again.

So Downing Street has the report.

It'll be heavily sanitised at the request of the Met
And the Met will not make names public... and their enquiry will take months

Whitewash Whitewash Whitewash Whitewash Whitewash Whitewash Whitewash Whitewash Whitewash Whitewash Whitewash Whitewash Whitewash Whitewash Whitewash Whitewash Whitewash Whitewash

Doesn’t look good, according to this thread. In fact, it’s an absolute disgrace and further damages our democracy 😡

Boris Johnson is planning to then give a statement to Commons, in which I'm told he will apologise repeatedly and say he accepts her redacted findings in full.

Sources say he will tell MPs the Govt will "learn lessons" from row before announcing changes to his top team in No10.’

…and that will be that

He can't survive this surely!?
Is this where this country is now.
Zero accountability!?
I think many in the country gave a clear message that they didn't give a **** about accountability when they voted at the last election.

The man refused to do interviews and hid in a fridge to avoid difficult questions. Yet he won a landslide 🤷🏼‍♂️

People didn't vote for Boris so much as the idea of getting Brexit over the line. It was a one issue General Election and The Greased Piglet was smart enough to ride on the back of it to seize power.

Absolutely. But they still sent the message that they didn't care about accountability. Or that a lack of accountability from their government was a price they were willing to pay to "get brexit done".

They might not have realised that's what they were doing, but not sure that's much of a defence.

His behaviour in that election campaign should have set off red flags everywhere for most people, but they were blinded by brexit.

I suspect, festa, that most didn't even think about accountability. When a GE comes around, I have noticed, everyone in the pub turns into a well informed political commentator. The truth is, vast swathes of the electorate know nothing about politics, nor the faces behind the leadership of the country.

Said it before, and here we go again. Start teaching politics as a core subject in schools. All my children understand and take an interest in politics, even my 11 year old. I want them to be able to make informed choices, even if I don't agree with those choices.

Can't disagree with that. The number of people who seemingly can't even grasp how our voting system works is ridiculous.

Any democracy worth its salt should be educating its children how that democracy works (and helping them, amongst other things, to question whether it really does "work").

Sue Gray: "a serious failure to observe not just the high standards expected of those working at the heart of Government but also of the standards expected of the entire British population at the time."

That’s all in effect the rest they can’t publish. It’s enough for him to go but of course the greased piglet won’t.

She has categorically stated that she has withheld the evidence and findings on all of the dates due to the MET involvement.

In no way could this be spun as anything other than an brief update.
