Sunderland Away Ticket Info

I agree that it should be changed from two seasons but it needed to start somewhere and is the fairest way of deciding. It wouldn’t be right that these 1955 tickets get to go to anybody.
The irony is that the criteria for deciding such a pathetically small allocation would never be agreed upon. Perhaps a ballot across a large group of people deemed "loyal" would be most "fair". This is what happens at the big clubs and would most likely be needed if we were in the PL.

The alleged flaws in the system don't negate the need for a system.
Any flaws should be addressed.
Some clubs e.g. Brighton, are addressing the issue of fans selling on away tickets and gaining points.

As someone who believes in socialist values I don’t think people with the highest disposable income should be able to plonk themselves at the front of the queue.
So what is your alternative, someone's who's had a home ticket for 30 years?, a lucky dip kinda of selection?, It's who you know or turn up and queue?
Why is it assumed that someone who is attending games home and away has the highest disposable income, when I had a season ticket in the early mid 90's and was going up and down the country I would often left be skint by it, it was just my life then to get to as many matches as possible. To use the words 'plonk yourself at the front of the queue' I take it your in that queue, are you missing out, if so what do you suggest that enables you to get a ticket?

I’ve had a season ticket for 56 continuous seasons and a gold card but I don’t go to many away games now.Only went to 4 last season and been to 4 so far this season and have 191 points so will no doubt not get a Sunderland ticket and as disappointing as this is I have no problem with this.I don’t think my longevity of owning a season ticket should get me at the ”front of the queue”.Like other posters have said if you are going to the majority of away games then you should be rewarded when high profile low allocation games come along. It’s as fair a system as you are going to get.

The process is discriminatory to those many in the same position as myself.
Your season ticket is discriminatory to people who can't afford one, and have to pick and choose to go to the few games they can afford.

So tough luck? It is a football club that loses money hand over fist, not a socialist utopia.

You are happy to have the advantage in cheaper tickets for home games than walk ups get, yet criticise a system that rewards people who can go to more away games than you. It is no different at all and pretty hypocritical. As a long term season ticket holder you're a minimum 140 points ahead of non ST holders because of your wealthy 'discriminatory' position over non ST holders.

Some serious service you’ve given to our football club!

Absolutely nailed. Nonsense to suggest anything else.

Can't/won't go to all away games but want the same priority as those that do for high demand, big games. Zero sense.

Ridiculous allocation. Sunderland could give us 7000 tickets and there would still be seats in the home end.

The potential trouble arguement ran its course many moons ago. If Northumbria police cant manage a game like this then they should be under the microscope. How can a small force like Cleveland manage 2,500 away fans in the reverse fixture and Northumbria only manage 1,900?

Don't forget we gave them 4k plus in the cup not long ago.

It's the positioning of the away fans they can't manage, this has been an ongoing debate on their forum for years. Away Fans above home fans in volatile fixtures has led to people being hurt with things thrown down on them, they say we are one of the worst, so we were always going to get a reduced allocation. If it's any consolation next season they will be putting away fans back in the lower bowl in one of the corners like us( probably) but who knows what allocation they might still give us.

I should say am not arguing for myself as I have an away season ticket and have used it every game
Away season tickets are a closed shop now. They should be scrapped or opened back up to everybody. Unlike the priority scheme I think away season tickets for a select few are unfair.

If you want to throw coins at the home fans then you'll be able to do it from any section of the ground.

So I have a question. I currently have 194 points. If I buy 2 additional tickets for teh Brighton game do I get 6 points meaning I could potentially get a ticket with 200 points plus

From the Sunderland fans point of view, they have thelr back to you most of the time, you can get more power from throwing higher to lower and it's easier for the idiots who do it to hide their actions as a straight forward hand gestures and chanting by facing the pitch in front of them without turning and looking or doing anything visually which makes them stand out on CCTV.

The easier solution would surely be to just not house the away fans above home fans.

It's not like they're short of space.

I assume there's a logical reason why they're there in the first place?

I think most Sunderland fans want away fans in the Lower Bowl, you can't really here them up there and it makes for a better atmosphere if they are lower down, looking at their forum SAFC asked their fans what they wanted and it seems if they listen then we might be on the lower bowl next season.
