The 24/25 promotion charge starts here

Pretty much agree with that. Focusing on next year's likely core and pushing them as hard as we can this season will do double duty because we want to do as well as possible. That means taking a punt on O'Brien recapturing his best form and hoping that we can afford Thomas if he shows what we have. I tend to agree that Greenwood hasn't shown enough this season so he probably needs to go into the Hoppe zone.

We aren't far off a top 6 team if O'Brien and Thomas come good and we can afford them that basically leaves us neding a first choice centre-forward and possibly another forward.
Agree about Thomas, but Forest were talking about wanting £8 million to £10 million for O'Brien weren't they?

He was good at Huddersfield, but I've not seen enough of him to suggest I'd pay £4million for him, never mind £8 million plus.

Think we could get Josh Brownhill maybe?

Unless O'Brien has a super end to this season they will have to drop that asking price. He's had a disaster of a season really and done nothing to help his valuation.
There'll only be 2 years left on his contract at the end of this season so I think they'll look to shift him on rather than retaining him

It's a difficult one, he is very young/inexperienced. 9 starts before we signed him. For 1.5m he would be a bargain.....but even next year he would still be a work in progress.

Absolutely agree, I don't think the gap from where we are to top 6 is big at all, even one start signing could get us there. But 3 or 4 good ones would certainly push us for 3rd or 4th or higher. The teams coming down are not going to run away with it like this year or last. Well maybe Everton or Forest might, depending on how much of a firesale is needed.

Sheff United have 12 players out of contract, 5 end of loan, and Archer. They will have to start next season with a largely new squad and about 15 signings, I guess they'll have cash to spend, but with so many players to sign it'll be a real hodgepodge of a squad

Burnley have a better squad, and 5 end of contract and 5 loanees, plus Ramsey. But will be a top 3 side regardless

If Luton come down they'll no longer be plucky underdogs, be interesting to see how they handle that

One thing we haven’t quite talked about is it’s quite likely that all 3 relegated teams will be promoted, and quite possible all three promoted teams will be relegated.

Leicester and Southampton in particular have been able to keep hold of several PL quality players. If that starts being normal, then Boro will really start struggling for promotion.

Yeah, but I don't think he's coming back here, unless Smith's injury is so bad that they're going to release him.

We'll sign a young right back with a view to making him our new first choice.
I disagree I think it’s nailed on we sign him otherwise why come

No chance hackney get s premier league move this year, he's had a handful of decent games this season and quite a few poor games. I can't see VDB going either this summer, he came for a reason and is still only 19 He will see out another year here.

Same with Mcgree, I think his offers will be limited, hasn't had much game time with us (due to injury) and Australia didn't play him in the Asia Cup, so he couldn't put himself in the shop window.

We will be under no pressure to sell this summer, on the next accounts, we'll have the Akpom, Payero, Rogers and potentially the Crooks sales.

Although, I do think there is a chance Glover could be off, he certainly put himself in the shop window, and could comfortably be a number 1 for a lower/mid championship team.

I think we'll lose McNair, Hackney, McGree, Van den Berg, Gilbert, Hoppe and Dijksteel of our contracted players.

I think we'll give Howson an extension.

Then Greenwood, Ayling, Thomas and O'Brien are obviously going back to their parent clubs.

It'll be a big rebuild.
If it's a big rebuild, and I'm not yet sure it' as big as last year, then we did that with just10m last summer.

This summer we would do it on 8m+ from Rogers, 20m+ for Hackney and 15m+ from Rav. So we would have more than 4 times the money to spend on a similar number of new players.

He wanted to play football, we needed an emergency starting right back.

If we signed Ayling permanently, then we're definitely moving Smith on, so the number of replacements needed stays the same.

We're not going to start next season with our two right backs being 32, one coming back from a massive injury, assuming Dijksteel leaves.

He's had more good games than Rogers had and he got a Premier League move. Hackney's obvious talent is still there, he's just playing with very average players.

He'll get his move and he'll excel with better players 👍🏻

Im not so sure I just don’t think he’s as committed as some think, in his interview for Australia he never mentioned us once just about how he always want to go up a level.

If he’s missing yet again on wed you’d have to seriously wonder.

Would definitely keep Greenwood for £1.5 million could turn out to be a bargain.
