Tory deputy chief whip resigns after ‘embarrassing myself and others’

There's a lot of Tory MP's very very unhappy with the way this has been handled by Johnson (no pun intended).

Lord McDonald tells Radio 4: "I know that a senior official briefed the prime minister in person because that official told me so, at the time..." "What I have seen and read over the last few days, I knew to be wrong. Things get to a point where you have to do the right thing."

Johnson said he wasn't aware of any formal complaint against Pincher, this is directly challenging that version.

He will obviously try and go through the usual repertoire of responses before proclaiming that he was ambushed by words.
That's what I meant, he'd quibble over the definition of 'formal' as in 'formal' could mean a police investigation.

How many normal people could deal with this amount of pressure and scandal that Johnson is dealing with, you'd think at some point you'd just think that I can't handle this anymore.

Also how many MP's would refuse to resign after the amount of sleeze and scandal that Johnson has been involved with, I don't have time for a lot of MP's but I still think the majority would have the decency to fall on their swords if they were in Johnson's position.

He obviously doesn't have a decent bone in his body and he really isn't anything like a normal person. I don't know how he still has the resolve to carry on.

Because he's very probably a psychopath. Certainly has the majority of the traits.

Unlike most people Johnson has no conscience, no grasp of right and wrong other than on an intellectual level. This becomes more and more obvious by the day

So it won't affect him the same way it affects most people. Probably doesn't affect him at all, his brain doesn't work that way.

I know it's a cliche, but how does he sleep at night? He must go to bed every single day worrying what is next, where his lies are going to catch up on him next?

He's a pathological liar. He always has been. Lying is as easy to him as telling someone what the correct time is. He always was, always will be. Sad a lot of the British public simply won't see this.
Worse they'll see it and not care as it 'doesn't affect them'. Every day he's in power means a more likely election and defeat for the Tories but at the cost of the reputation of politicians, politics generally and the country.

I doubt Johnson has any problems sleeping. He probably sleeps the soundest of any man.

He doesn't have a conscience like most people and his immediate response to being found out is anger with the accuser rather than shame at being caught.

I do think most politicians (on balance) do go into the business with some good intentions; although their beliefs might mean they act differently than I would like.

Johnson is just a bad person, I don't see any positive motives or traits at all.

Did anyone hear Fabricant on Five Live this morning?

Have a listen on BBC Sounds. What he says is unbelievable!!

Calm down boys and girls. A minister has just said Johnson didn't remember he'd been told about @rse Pincher but he has now remembered. So move along. Nothing to see here!
To be fair, that's a worse effort than I was expecting and I set the bar pretty low.
