Traore

Whatever you say about Pulis he did know how to get the best out of him, playing him in front of a defensive fullback like Shotton, although I think he'd have done well under Monk if he'd have had the balls to play him.Never forget that day away at Bolton when he was unplayable.

I also think in a strange way, Traores' performance away at Arsenal was the death of our Premier League campaign, as Karanka was fooled into thinking we needed to go with 3 midfielders from there on in.

Reality was, our good performance was more down to Traores' brilliant individual performance on the day, rather than the change of formation. If Karanka had have just kept faith with 4-2-3-1 and included Traore in his lineup I think we'd have stayed up.

He’s not suddenly a bad player. He’s just missing Jota and Jimenez badly. When they were both playing, all he needed to do was beat his man and float a cross to the front or back post and he was consistently doing just that.

He has definitely regressed this season. It's maybe a classic case of him returning 'to type' and a club not cashing in when they could have.

I imagine they were holding out for 60-80mil and hoping he had a similar season to cement that value. He is probably on his way back to 30-40mil at best. I imagine someone like Pep or Klopp may get a bit more out of him in a free flowing attacking side.

To be honest I'd be more bothered if we had a 10-20% sell on clause. We don't so it's hardly an issue. He could go for 10mil or his contract expire and go for nothing and it's no real concern for me. He has always been very up and down going from the sublime to the frankly ridiculous (some of the things he does make you question if he has a footballng brain).

but also as the commentator said last night he's been carrying an injury. Maybe that's affected his form

Hilarious how things change. I used to read on here that he was the best player in the world (no exaggeration) and going to be worth over 100 mill!

Don’t forget Spain international player as well.

He deserves better than Wolves are giving him, he has proved the doubters wrong before and will do so again, he is a top quality player.
He really isn't a top class player. He has 2 sub appearances for Spain, so not sure how relevant that is at the moment. For Wolves last year he played 37 times and got 5 goals. He did manage 9 assists which is very good.

This season he has been very average, and yes I know he has been played more centrally, but he isn't a world beater. Exciting to watch yes, but fairly average for the prem I am afraid.

He’s always been inconsistent and unpredictable, which can be a liability.

I have always felt he was most effective as an impact sub.

Showing flashes at Wolves is probably his level.

The truth is he's not this phenomenal world class player some were so sure he was. He also not a headless chicken as some have claimed in past and is certainly much better than he's currently showing.

He is an incredible athlete with a world class ability to run/dribble with the ball. His off the ball movement and positional awareness is still a weakness though. For some players that comes more naturally, I think it's something Traore will always have to work on.

Not sure what team/manager would be best for him. Think he's shown he's good enough to play in a top 6 side. In the right circumstances maybe even a title winning team. But as much as a weapon he is, he'll always frustrate managers. Particularly those like Klopp and Guardiola who plan everything to the nth degree.

If he continues to underwhelm this season get promoted and bring him back? Warnock would sort him out 😉

I'd certainly have him back festa, a newly promoted team might be ideal for him.

The way Spurs play under Mourinho, sit back and then quick attack would suit the way he plays, but is he better than Kane, Son or Bale? probably not

Let’s wait and see, Adama is the sort of player who will have the last word.

Nuno and Wolves are not right for him, he needs a better coach and a better club.

These flair players always divide opiinion.

Would you like to watch players who always do safe passing, get their optima stats up, and you can never remember a game they played in?

Or do you want to watch Traore who can lift you off your seat in one surge forwards into the heart of a defence?

I know who I would rather pay my money to see.

Football at the top level has entertainment problems just now, it’s too sterile and conservative, it needs the game changers like Adama.

He is a tremendous talent. I really hope he regains his form of last season.
I'd love him to pull on a Boro short again.
It would sicken me to see him play alongside Bamford at Leeds.

I agree, but to be honest Leeds is probably exactly the kind of club where he would thrive.
