Traore

Let’s wait and see, Adama is the sort of player who will have the last word.

Nuno and Wolves are not right for him, he needs a better coach and a better club.
I wouldn't wait too much longer if I were hom Holgate, he'll be 25 in a couple of weeks and should be peaking soon.

You are right about him being entertaining and that the prem has a problem with the very thing that made it a world brand. However, football more than ever, is a business now and nothing matters more than amassing enough points to, stay up, mid-table, top 4* delete as applicable.

The paying fans are incidental to football, unfortunately.

Sas said all this and was hounded off here.

He wasn't though was he?

He dug his heels with his opinion, ignoring all reasoned debate to the contrary, presumably in the hope that he'd look like some genius if we ended up releasing him for peanuts. He wasn't just pointing out Traore's weaknesses as some are doing, he was predicting he'd never make it as a top flight footballer, was arrogant towards any other view and I think stated we'd be lucky to get £5m for him.

Rather than hold his hands up and accept he got it massively wrong, he slunk away. One of a handful of posters obsessed with being right. Certainly wasn't hounded out though, the circumstances of his leaving appeared to be entirely down to him and his ego.

You're right Festa, I remember some threads where most were either one side or the other, gash v best in the world. The truth has always been he is good, has flashes of brilliance and equally flashes of annoying incompetence.

Which is why I don’t think he’ll ever play for one of the top clubs.

These flair players always divide opiinion.

Would you like to watch players who always do safe passing, get their optima stats up, and you can never remember a game they played in?

Or do you want to watch Traore who can lift you off your seat in one surge forwards into the heart of a defence?

I know who I would rather pay my money to see.

Football at the top level has entertainment problems just now, it’s too sterile and conservative, it needs the game changers like Adama.
Yes, I would prefer to watch entertaining footballers.

My point is that I believe his identified deficiencies will prevent him from playing at the highest level.

Rubbish, he was right. He knew his weaknesses. traore can only dream of Britt's scoring record and close to zero assists in four seasons.

Sas was right, and the bullies on here went for him.

No it means he's the most successful dribbler. Ie not average.
Come on Sheriff you know whats wrong with what you said - You could be the best dribbler in the world and still an average footballer. These guys that hold world records in keepie ups... Not great footballers you would assume, not even average.

As I said Traore is a very good championship player and an average prem player.

He is so average that in his last match v Spurs, he had five defenders lining up on him whenever he got the ball on the wing.

That‘s the problem for an outstanding player in an average team, they can be played out of the game because a few other players aren’t doing anything to hurt the opposition.

He needs to move to a better team, I‘m sure he will before long.

Holgate I am pretty sure he won't be moving to a better team. Of course he would do better in a better team, but he just isn't doing very good in the team he is in. We can wait and see, as opposed to arguing, I guess.

I would love to see him develop into a great player, I just don't see it. As I said above, he has flashes of brilliance and flashes of ineptitude, the rest of the time he is a bit meh!

Nonsense. Keepie uppies have no value in football. The ability to beat a man has huge merit.

I ‘guess‘ so.

I just hate to see top top talent wasted, the modern game is sterile enough in my opinion without frightened managers like Nuno wasting the riches at their disposal.

To a large extent I agree, football is structured, on the pitch I mean, by bean counters. What gives a team the best mathematical chance of maximising their return from the 3 points on offer.

The impact a player has on results is the only metric used to judge, rightly or wrongly. The CFO doesn't care whether fans are out of their seats, he probably never attends a game, nor understands it.

When you pump billions of pounds into a sport, it turns into a business.

I agree with you but the lack of entertainment will catch up at some point and you need top flight managers to be able to use the assets properly.

Traore is on a big wage at Wolves, he wouldn’t be on that or even there at all if someone hadn‘t made a value judgement.

We need to get away from thinking 5 yard possession football is the only way to play for success.

It’s just a fashion that will pass when people start getting bored with it.
