UK & US populations

I doubt we ever would, and there'd be issues around healthcare and a myriad of other things I'm sure, but.................

If we ever ended up in position of freedom of movement, residency & employment within the US, do you think many of them or us would relocate?

I'd assume non- of the patriotic gun waving Trumper or sorts would ever leave so we might only get the nicer more normal ones.

I'd probably also assume if the same arrangement was available with Australia or New Zealand say, people from the UK would be more interested in re-settling there?

Blimey it’d be like entering a War zone going over there right now , could liken it to relocating to Belfast or Derry in the 70s . Divided is an understatement IMHO of course .
Be interesting to get the Boro/US board members take on it as naturally they’re better in the know

Couldn’t pay them to go to Australia at one point 😉

Would never go to the US it's more messed up than the UK with its woke and SJW nut jobs, and that's saying something
as the UK is pretty far gone.

I don't have much experience of the US but from what I do have I doubt i could possibly move there. Mind I've only been to touristy places: Orlando, New York and LA.

You couldn't pay me to live in Orlando, I couldn't pay to live in New York (and wouldn't want to)

LA I like a lot but have only experienced as a tourist. I imagine living there amongst the guns and adverts and bad food would be unpleasant.

On all 6 road trips to the USA We have not seen any gun issues. Spoke to a couple of brothers where 1 carried and the other was well against it. I feel the USA TV has a lot to answer for. Think we have only seen 1 being carried in the open and that was by some kind of warden.

We'll probably move there at some point, probably Brooklyn as that's where most of our friends are, but I have a hankering for Boston, love it as a city. Quite like the florida gulf Coast as well: st Pete's, clearwater maybe. Would be when we're snowbirds though

Some friends moved out to near LA & it was an amazing few years, they had kids & the family were having a great time living the american dream, and then the kids started school and started doing shooter drills, their school friends had bullet proof back packs, someone got arrested outside the school with a gun.
Although the chance of them being involved with a school shooting was far less than being in a car accident on the way to school, it was such a visceral and unusual threat that they had difficulty coming to terms with it.
They moved back to London just before lockdown.

But I've got two other friends that moved out through acdemia and are professors at Unis over there and they wouldn't come back. The value placed on their knowledge both in $ & respect from students & staff, the time & facilities they are provided with to conduct research, far outstrips what the could get in the UK.
