Velogames Tour de France 2021 🇫🇷 🇫🇷🚴🏻 - (May Contain Spoilers )

I was annoyed I was away and missed out on getting a team in, but after today I think I was the lucky one. It's a complete lottery with all these crashes. The roads were too narrow today for the speeds they're traveling at in the finale. Not sure Caleb will get back from that and I think he'd have been my sprinter.

Madiot is really going off on one on the post-stage analysis blaming everyone and not just the organisers.

That Caleb incident was awful.
Whatever happened he well and truly took Sagan out.
I know the lad is badly injured but just wondered what others thought of it -
Dangerous…… or an unlucky cycling incident?

There seems to be a few unusual crashes today, no doubt we'll hear more about them from those involved.
I do wonder about riders grabbing too much brake at times, particularly as so many now use discs. In the bunch, slowing that little bit faster must make the chances of touching wheels a bit higher.

French commentary team thought the same as me - he touched wheels with Merlier.

The general feeling about the crashes in the last ten kms was that the roads were too narrow for the finish of the first sprint stage in the Tour which are traditionally sketchy with all riders on edge. This was made worse by being downhill. Tight bends at 80kph with a largish peloton spell trouble. Marc Madiot the manager of Groupama-FDJ was particularly scathing on the post-stage programme, although he often goes over the top. I've got some sympathy with his views on this.

EDIT Haven't read it yet, but there's a piece in cn on Madiot's thoughts.

My first thought in real time was Caleb got a bit over excited and went for a gap that wasn’t there. I also think there are so many crashes because there’s too many riders riding as if it’s a spring classic not a grand tour with the best part of three weeks still to go!

Reading those views from the riders I wouldn't be surprised if we have some sort of rider protest tomorrow.
Terrible day for the Tour. Nobody likes to see crashes and top cyclists dropping out. I do t want to see racing in wide motorways but surely in the early days of the Tour and with adrenaline running high you dont have narrow road sprint stages like that.

What madness out on the roads of Brittany today. And what has it done to the table? A new leader in Chorlton ( without Hardy ).

Certainly those of us who picked Roglic, Haig and Ewan have suffered. That said its not going to be down to just one pick difference which has been the case with the last two GT comps.

Did anyone pick the KOTM guy who has been in every single break so far?
I went for Perez from Cofodis who has a reputation for doing exactly that. Sadly he missed out in a sprint with the lad from Bora on stage 2 for the polka dot jersey and didn't make the break yesterday.

I had Perez in my provisional lineup #98, but in my infinite wisdom transferred him out for another nomark in my final selection #142.
