Velogames Tour de France 2021 🇫🇷 🇫🇷🚴🏻 - (May Contain Spoilers )

I am rather switched off from the Tour after what happened the other day in the TT.

I am reading that TP broke the record for both Col de Romme and Col du Colombiere climbs yesterday. Back to back. That is the performance of the greatest cyclist the world as ever seen at the age of 22 the day after a 250K hard ride.

It’s going to be interesting how the Tour will go from here. Barring accidents Pog has it won with ease. It means other teams will no need to protect their GC men and go for breaks and stage wins.

The battle for the break is going to be the most competitive part of many of the stages. The other interest is to see if Cav can equal and beat the great Eddie Mercx all time TdF stage record.

It certainly raises a few eyebrows. I hope for his sake that he is clean or as clean as you can be legally, because we know there are elements of sports science that might be borderline.

How long before G follows him?

It's interesting looking at the Velogames table that most of the usual suspects are not at the top of the board for this Tour - a sure sign that it's out of the norm. Unfortunately as I'm not entered I can't see the teams that are doing well although Pogacar is obviously in them.

Let’s not kid ourselves, I think Kung’s raised eyebrows in the TT said enough. We’ve all had our doubts about people, Froome included, but at least they had the decency to look absolutely knackered. On thé TT the other day Wout van Aert and Matthieu van der Poel we’re blowing out of their arzes whilst Tadej Pogacar had a little smile for the camera and looked like he’d just done his paper round!!

I fear we are heading into borderline dark days again , watching that yesterday was like some of the dubious rides of the past , just blown everyone out of a race inside a week !!!!

He went on a 40 k break in the tour of slovenia too, a bit like Froomes from years ago , it just raises eyebrows when you see it done still when sports science is used by all the top teams to a high level & fitness is on a par all around .
The time he put into people yesterday was eye-openingly big ?

medical director of team UAE, Jeroen Swart.........Froomes mate Ex Sky

TP is a class rider, fully focused on the tour. I've lost two top riders from my team today so just going for stage wins!
One of the team has yet to score a point!

Most of the lead teams have Roglic and Van Der Poel .... so are now 2 men down. One excellent pick that a few of us missed is Colbrelli. What a performance from him today. Insane. Outclimbing the best climbers.
I'm looking to move up the leaderboard now as I have Ben O'Connor, Pogacar and Carapaz (plus Alaphilippe, Sagan, Paret Peintre, Gesbert, Politt and Hirschi).

To be fair we had lost Roglic some days before once he crashed. As for MvDP he was always going to drop out after the first week. He had said as much. He is now focussing on his MTB challenge in Tokyo.

There are a number of reasonably made up teams making a move. MC Cycling moving up but Demare’s OTL will hit him. Current holder of both the Giro and TdF title Cardiffdaffs and Borolad who was 2nd in the Giro remain lower mid table on exactly the same no of points. . Its going to an interesting two weeks for the FMTTM race if not the real one.

New leader and a new name. Eddie Nicho. Chorlton down to 2nd with Dooderooni in 3rd llace.

I went for MvP despite knowing he would pull out. I just had the feeling he was going to go big at least once.
I've also got my first points from Cosnefouy courtesy of O'Connor winning the stage :)
If you don't have Pog then you are knackered.

Interesting having a look at the sprinters performances in the first week and one who has flown under the radar for most teams is Jasper Philipsen who is 2nd best so far and less than 1% of teams have him. MVP so far has been the best sprinter pick but where will that stand in two weeks time.
