Only a couple of games have not gone to general sale so how is that a closed shop?
If as a season ticket holder you had been to every other game excepting Exeter and Sunderland how many points would you have?
Also, how much money would it have cost you? Both in tickets, trave and time off work?
Lets see how many away games you would need to have attended as a home season card holder to get in the queue for Port Vale. It may not be as many as you think, mid week. December.
Someone on this thread questioned me personally having an away season ticket. But I go to every game. I pay to go to every game. When did you last go to an away game? I know when I last missed an away game (through covid). That will be the same for the other away season ticket holders. They travel to every match.
This system works well for most. Some cheat it Sadly, some would cheat any system. It would be just as easy to do so with your system unless those using tickets were matched up with the season cards. That could be a bit Big Brother for a football game.
I’ve been to 7 away games this season. I’m going to Bristol City, fully intend on going to Leeds, Port Vale, Rotherham and Huddersfield. I’ve also got my accommodation booked for Millwall in January. So I think I pass the sniff test on being able to comment on these matters. As you can see, I personally have no issue getting tickets.
No offence Rob but you’ve been wrong on almost everything on this issue. I raised it last year and you denied there was an issue, that people go to away games for “pints not points”.
You now seem to be of the opinion that it does happen, but it’s only a small minority but diddums there’s just nothing we can do about it.
You having an away season ticket is very relevant to this discussion. You’re advocating a points system that you yourself don’t use, and when I previously suggested to you that they scrap the away season ticket as you no longer need it with the points system you seemed pretty aghast at the thought of having to join the rest of us. You can’t champion a system that you yourself don’t use.
There shouldn’t even be an away season ticket in its current format. Why are you and others being offered a product under the table that the rest of us aren’t allowed to buy? It’s bonkers. I’d buy one, I’d love to not have to interrupt my family time or work time to sit on a clunky website buying tickets. If having an away season ticket saves on booking fees be over £30 better off for start.
You were wrong on Exeter and many of us on here called it ahead of time. We said the tickets would be gobbled up by those wanting to re-sell and that’s exactly what happened. Social media was flooded with them.
Port Vale will sell out quickly, because it’s a big game and people like myself are looking forward to being there. But also if people can’t make the game for whatever they’d be idiots if they didn’t buy the ticket and pass it on because they’ll definitely sell it and there’s zero chance the club will do anything about it.
If they brought in similar checks to Newcastle the vast majority of this stops overnight. If people know there was even a small chance of their points being taken away or season ticket cancelled the majority wouldn’t let anyone have it. There will always be a small minority who spin the wheel but that’s up to them.
It will work for everyone but the cheats. More tickets will be available, it will give people a chance to build their own points, more will make it to general sale instead of making it to the people who would have bought in the general sale via a middle man claiming the points you could have had.
It’s such an easy thing to do and when you asked do Boro fans want this many on this thread have already said yes.
