Wes Streeting - what an idiot

I expect him to get on with the job without trying to come up with clever soundbites. We tore a strip off the Tories for their 3 word slogans, this is no better.

It's not a game, or an advert that needs a catchy jingle.
Yes, but what is his job, what is the role of a politician?

Three word slogans weren’t invented by the Conservative Party, and there’s a reason people use them, because they are proven to help messages stick.

Streeting is slightly more palatable than Akehurst.

And no, that wasn't a compliment.

An MP hugely entrenched with the private care sector (taking just short of £200k in donations ) in charge of the NHS.......wonder how this will pan out.......🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

I like Wes, I think he'll get loads done, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.
Yeh… that’s what I’m worried about. More privatisation and pushing back the problems for another generation.

I won’t claim to have the answer, but when the NHS shortfall is about £32 billion and we have over one hundred and thirty Billionaires resident in the UK, I’m not sure further privatisation is the solution.

That’s a very strange question though, it would need an essay to answer given the span and size of a government.
Well the first words you’ve said are that you want him to get on with his job - so I’d assume you have an idea of what you think his job is.

A big element of being a departmental minister is around leadership, communication, engagement and representation. He’s not got the job because he’s the foremost expert in Health and Social Care in the country, he’s got whole departments for that.

Obviously his methods are not something that have chimed with you, but it’s not because he’s not doing his job.

As Health Secretary I’d expect him to do things that improve the health of vulnerable people like, let me see, ensuring they don’t freeze to death in winter.

Yes but you're just speculating here aren't you?

Why don't you just wait to see what happens, if it doesn't please you then make your point, rather than just making stuff up or repeating what you've read like you have done here?

At the minute there are NO dentists in the Teesside area (tbf I haven't tried Hartlepool/darlington) taking on NHS patients. If this continues together with the continuation of the Tories fiscal policies then this lot will be booted out after their first term and will have thrown away an opportunity of a lifetime to do some good.

I'm a life long labour voter btw. They're off to a dismal start.

P.s. I do realise that 14 years of austerity isn't going to be reversed overnight but we need to start hearing some positivity and when things might start to change like you might be able to get a NHS dentist by x date.

No. I’m not speculating.

I’ll be honest, your post wound me up, and I wasn’t certain why. I don’t know you personally but I understand you are a local Labour Party member/activist/councillor. So I took a moment to think, has this wound me up because I don’t like Labour? No, that’s not it. Because I do like Labour, I even quite like Keir Starmer. So what wound me up? I think I know the answer. It’s the arrogance dripping from a local political figure telling people on a football message board what they can and can’t say about politics. I certainly never made anything up and don’t think it’s particularly mannerly to accuse people of doing so. Perhaps you should consider speaking to people with more respect in the future.
