What’s happened to Crooks?

Not wanting to unfairly knock the guy, but he just seems a completely different player the last month or 2.

I’d have said he was one of the first names on the team sheet earlier in the season. Struggling now to remember the last good game he had. On top of that, he’s not even making runs on set pieces now. Just stands by the keeper making a nuisance of himself (presumably under instructions).

One of our biggest goal threats suddenly doesn’t look like a threat at all.

Maybe he was one of the ones who had Covid? He's been a bit up and down since around that time. I'd also just add that he had a great chance in the first half, which would probably have gone in if their player hadn't deflected it over the bar. I think he looks a little tired TBH, the same three central midfielders have been playing week in, week out for what seems like ages.

To be fair I thought he looked refreshed and a bit more at it against Posh. He looked like he needed a break pre internationals.

He has played pretty much every min bar his 2 match ban. He's still been a fantastic signing.

Wilder commented on him in the post match website interview saying 'he went to ground again and got booked' for the free kick they scored from. Then hooked 5 mins later. I thought tactical but clearly not.

Hes still a massive part to play. Yet wouldn't be surprised to see McGree start soon.

I love Crooksy. Up until this slump ... he's stood out for us for me, my favorite Boro player and that's with players like Howson, Jones, Tav, Dijksteel, Fry around

I think he's just having a lull/and he may be carrying a knock or something he can't shake off at the minute ..

He'll be back. He's not his usual self but at the moment, he's a guaranteed yellow and that is about it.

Every bet builder on a Boro game I have been doing this season on 365, I always make sure I have Crooksy to be booked

He definitely missed Jones tonight. He had a little spell in the game 2nd half tonight when he managed to get in behind down the right but otherwise he struggled to get into the game.

Apart from when his shot today deflected over the bar off a defender who knew nothing about it. I'm not saying today was his best game but he normally links up well with Jones.
Yes, fair enough, good run and decent effort. But he was getting in those positions game after game earlier this season.

Remember the 2 late headers against Reading? Missed a sitter against Spurs but still was in the right place. Just doesn’t seem to have the same end product at the moment.

I still like him and he was an excellent signing.

He obviously missed Jones tonight but he hasn’t looked the same player since we played Spurs. Hardly passes the ball to a player and turns like a tanker.

Hope he gets back to his best soon or I can see him being dropped for McGree.

I have got to agree. He hasn’t found his best form since his suspension, I still back him to turn it around as in the main he’s been brilliant for us.

Ive quoted this in the Match-Day thread, but its appropriate to post it here >>>

“The goal against us is a really poor one. It’s really poor challenge from Crooksy, gets booked. Of course in our preparation, we are going to talk about Mitrovic and his runs and where he wants to get into. He wants to get into the middle of the goal. We’ve switched off and we’ve not blocked that run off. They’ve stretched the zone too easily and then we are on the back foot.

“Really, I believed up to that point in the second half, we were on the front foot. For me, I felt more that we were going to go on and win the game than lose the game. Ultimately we’ve lost it but I don’t know how.

“Even after the Mitrovic goal, we’ve done more than enough to get back into it and get something from the game but we obviously haven’t."

* In his post-match he also made it clear he wasnt best pleased: [Crooksy] "hes got another booking...". That could balls up the run in if hes banned!
