Who could really blame Wilder if he walked?

The only position we're missing is CDM/CM - but I can guarantee every club in the league (with the exception of those relegated) feels the same about one position in the squad.

I think fans are too focused on what we haven't got, and not focused enough on what we have....

Steffen and Roberts are a massive improvement on Lumley and Daniels.
Lenihan was in the championship team of the season last year, we've signed him on a 4 year contract, for free.
Clarke seems like a great signing, £2m?, still young at 25 years old, another 3 year contract.
Ryan Giles is probably the best wing back in the league? guaranteed 10-15 assists in my opinion.
Tommy Smith - Solid championship player.
Mowatt - Totally agree that he's no Marcus Tavernier, but he hasn't blagged his way into played 250-300 championship games.

Strikers.... Muniz is probably not the first choice striker we hoped for with some of the names linked (Gyokores, Armstrong, etc...), but Armstrong just scored in the PL, we were dreaming...

Hoppe and Forss are only 4-5 games into the season - both have potential in my opinion, and they're 21 and 23 years old, on 5 year contracts.

Stop talking sense, today is for desperation and panic.

Well it's slightly poorer than the way we finished last season but the new players haven't been here for the full run of 7, or didn't you notice that?
What I noticed was the club’s statement of doing the business early. To an extent this happened but was left unfulfilled . And now we are reaping this flawed policy. But keep deluding yourself. What is in question is not the numbers we’ve brought in but the 3 missing pieces to complete the jigsaw. That’s the fact some on here need to consider

Tell that to our manager

Stuff has got to happen. We’re light on bodies in the middle of the park and nothing on the bench to come on when we lose Jonny so we’ve got to shift Paddy. Everyone knows where we’re at.

I agree. I would also add I think Muniz could end up being the best of the ones we were linked with

Then look at the quality of those coming in and going out, with only one exception, the runner who had a decent half season.

We're a much stronger squad.
Quality….. well that is a huge leap of faith based on the past and based on results to date and goals scored and conceded.

Muniz Giles and Clarke show promise, arguably Roberts too.

Steffen looks wobbly, Hoppe, could be anything, Lenihan has disappointed me so far, needs to stop being so gung ho, Smith, Mowatt, Forss the jury is out. We are stronger in numbers, quality is far from proven as a team just yet.

The problem with "doing the business early" is that when deadline day arrives, the fans forget we've already signed 10 players, create 10 different threads about managers/owners, and go into meltdown

I think there’s a good chance he’ll go if another job offer comes in he fancies - a lot depends on results i guess. Looking at the next few games they look easier than most we’ve had so far but confidence can’t be high with the start we’ve had

Lumley
Fry - Hall - Bamba
Dijksteel - Crooks - Howson - Tavernier - Jones
Ipkeazu - Hernandez

Bench: Daniels, Peliter, Lea Siliki, Olusanya, Watmore, Sporar

That was our squad when we got beat by Coventry, 7 games into last season.

Is our current squad better?

It takes two sides to do business, not one. You can't sign players that a club doesn't want to sell or players who don't want to come here.

It doesn't matter who says what, and more fool those who take so much notice of what's been said in order to sell tickets.

His expectations- by what he has said- was we would be successful in bringing in 3 additions that were vital for us to move forward with a more balanced squad for the remainder of the season. This hasn’t happened.

Excuses will no doubt be aplenty- this will fail to mask the fact that ultimately the recruitment team have failed to deliver when the chips are down.

To a lot of posters this will not come as a surprise. It demonstrates why there is a lack of confidence in our ability to compete for some signings and questions the wisdom of selling Tav without having someone lined up.

The critics of us who questioned the wisdom of leaving activity until the closure of the window got it wrong - badly wrong. Straw clutches asked we wait till the window closed - we have and were vindicated in concerns . Will they hold their hands up now and acknowledge they were wrong? Of course not!

I believe Monday’s game has taken on greater significance. A poor result and Wilder could reflect on his position and what he can achieve with a squad that doesn’t match his requirements.

So our amateur haphazard recruitment efforts could have far greater ramifications for us. This isn’t negatively- it’s a realistic possibility.
Time to show his managerial credentials now isn't it? If he's as good as he thinks he is, then he should be able to make a good fist of it with this squad.
Look at the back 5....better than most other teams in the league and yet leak goals every game.
If he wants to use poor recruitment as an excuse for not being able to work with the players he has got then good riddance.

He clearly stated that he expected more signings so I suppose he has an excuse, if one was needed in modern day football.

However, I think he will be here at the end of the season and he can be judged then or he can walk away and say "I've taken them as far as I can".
Time will tell. I think we would struggle as a club to get a better manager than CW.
