Reading the article, it was mentioned she had been a manager previously. She will be well versed in what bullying looks like, so that’s likely the reason she started and kept the journal on going.

I’m surprised she didn’t go to HR sooner , the allegations are quite serious.

I know that they generally like it if you can solve your differences between yourselves but I wouldn’t expect that to be their response if she had reported this alleged “kick”.
 
I had a job in the NHS in london, regularly got called a northern monkey by whites and blacks Asians and even one of my seniors said a monkey could do my job. It was one of reasons I resigned. Now if I was calling them monkeys id be sacked. I felt undervalued in my role and ridiculed for being northern

Yes when I first came to London I used to get a lot of that, that sort of stuff is still fairy widespread. It didn’t really bother me that much but I can see how it could be offensive to others.

I'm not prepared to make a decision based on the fact I've not been at the tribunal to hear the evidence myself and all the evidence has not yet been provided.

I see no reason on the face of what I've seen so far to disbelieve her but there may be evidence presented that would cause me to do so.

Would be good to know if she has any evidence , anyone who can corroborate her claims.

I would say the major difference between the two alleged incidents was that several people voiced concern over Patel’s behaviour and this is one person expressing concern over the behaviour of several others, also Patel is a public figure who some people will have drawn an inference on based on what she says, how she says it and on how she behaves in public life, we don’t know those accused at GOSH and if we did we might have an opinion on the likelihood of their guilt or innocence.

Both cases require full investigation and if those accused are found guilty they should be punished accordingly, bullying in the workplace really isn’t acceptable.

Really - it’s how I heard the term monkey hangers which is never heard before until I came to London. Obviously the guy was a few miles off but that didn’t stop him.

I've had loads of people at work, mocking the accent or phrases etc and going on about cobbled street, coal mines, outside toilets etc.

I guess nowadays I could probably take it to HR and make a big deal of it, but never felt the need to, I'm a big boy and can recognize the difference between people having a laugh with me and bullying/discrimination.
