Bbc - a disgrace

Because it’s news? The Deputy PM resigned. Do you think they shouldn’t have offered him an interview? He looked a total **** anyway. But even if he didn’t, he’s entitled to his say.
What next having criminals on TV to give an interview saying their sexual offence isn't that bad, and a little bit of non-consensual sex is ok......ah, they've already done that when Matliss interviewed that sweaty Prince.

The main news headlines on the BBC news website don’t show him hanging himself. It simply says ‘Raab hits out at ‘activist civil servants’’

Most people don’t read every news story, they just see the headlines. A narrative is being painted there.
It’s absolutely outrageous! Disgraceful!
Those running the bbc know this and are happy that it ***** off people like us, as it just goes another step up the ladder towards turning public opinion against the impartial (pfffft) national broadcaster. Destroying it for a reason.
Very true FP.

I wonder what impression the headline,

Deputy PM resigns, after report finds evidence of DR bullying staff at work.

Would give instead.

I've been telling you lot that the BBC are sh*t for ages. See also The Guardian. Nobody ever listens to the bloke with a bum for a face. Racism, pure and simple.
Agree on the BBC (Chris Mason the wimp) ran by the tories and now they have wimps doing the interviews the Tory chunts know they can manipulate the interview which is what Raab did.
It was the biggest disgrace of an interview I’ve ever seen on the BBC (British Broadcasting Conservatives)
Ran by the Tories to sanitise their xenophobic, racist comments and legislative agenda
Makes me want to throw up watching it

Utter rubbish. Raab’s position is demonstrably poor here. And I think it’s been exposed as such. But it’s obviously highly pertinent to the main news story of the day and the idea that the BBC or anyone else in the news media should have suppressed it is totalitarian in the extreme.
So if the main story of the day was an mp accused of sexual assault, and investigation is likely to say it happened, that mp should be interviewed because it’s the main story

That’s effectively what you are saying….

Edit: i see @BoroMart has covered this with you already

Poor journalism- far too long for a headline.

Anybody that interested would have opened the story.

It's been widely reported the Tory influence within the higher echelons of the BBC, so this standard of journalism isn't a surprise at all.

Its also evident that large numbers of the population are too lazy to look at and digest facts for themselves, instead relying on the good 'ol honesty and upstanding professionalism of the British media......hence the RWM / government know a short sharp headline or three word soundbite will do the trick - people can't be ars*d to look behind this.

I’m really not sure that interview was designed to help Andrew in any way. In fact most of the widely held consensus that he’s guilty was deducted from that interview.

I don’t think that’s they point though is it. If someone is guilty should they have the opportunity to defend themselves even if the compound their guilt?

I thought his resignation letter showed a complete lack of self-awareness and lacked any class.
Lashing out and refusing to take responsibility for his own shortcomings.
The sooner this far right enclave are kicked out of office, the better.
Joe Biden's treatment of Sunak the other week showed just how this country is now viewed by other states, a near banana Republic.

People such as Raab have this elitism bred into them from any early age. They are always correct in what they do, justified in their actions and everything is always somebody else's fault. Ridiculous levels of narcissism, arrogance and self importance.

Sadly the country is dominated by these people.

Andrew wasn’t found guilty of anything, and certainly not at that point. The BBC carried out an interview every broadcaster would have loved to carry out.

Without that interview there’d have been LESS evidence that he’d done anything wrong.

And anybody not interested would have simply read the headline and digested a few sensationalist words that are extremely negative about the civil service.

They’ve still seen that much. Whether interested or not.
That’s kind of the point.
Paranoia would seem to be the point

I don’t think anyone is suggesting it isn’t news.
It is and should be reported as such.
Also, it ought to be quite a simple report

’The Deputy PM Dominic Raab’ has resigned following an investigation which found him to be a bully’

To allow him the opportunity to rubbish the process, tell the world he’s the victim and point the finger at the civil servants doesn’t feel appropriate at all to me.

Not sure that’s correct. The report found bullying under the high court definition, the interview was given after he resigned

I’m talking about Andrew, since it was mentioned as a comparison. It is possible that they were right to do the Andrew interview and wrong to do this one. They’re not necessarily wrong in 100% of their actions.

Ah i thought we we’re talking about dominic raab, which is the interview I think is a disgrace

My apologies

The Civil Service have no right of reply to any of the accusations made against them by Raab, he knows this and is freely shouting his mouth off with impunity.

The BBC also know this and should never be giving him a platform to do it. The News is the event, listening to Raab rant is not news.

I disagree, just like Prince Andrew's interview - give the perp the platform to hang themselves..

News is news, it's what we as individuals & wider society take from what is reported.. seeing & hearing it from the horse's mouth - via a reputable platform - is key..
