Akpom

Not a chance. 100% Kav would outscore Akpom over the course of a season, he’s the worst ‘striker’ I’ve ever seen at the Boro.

I said before we signed him that I used to live in Hull and go to their games. I watched Chuba a lot, an not once did he ever look remotely threatening.

Two seasons I’d seen him in the championship, one for Boro, one for Hull. 8 goals.

If we’re struggling to get players in so badly that he’s our contingency we’re in trouble.

That is an outrageous claim

Did James Lea Siliki come with more hype and expectation than Matt Crooks?

Yes, look at the working on mfc.co.uk - the clubs official website.
https://www.mfc.co.uk/news/james-lea-siliki-arrives-on-loan vs. https://www.mfc.co.uk/news/boro-sign-matt-crooks
"Signed cameroon international" vs. "Matt Crooks becomes 5th signing".
"beat off a number of clubs" vs. "after completing the formalities".
"clocked up over a century of appearances" - "almost 100 appearances".
"My contacts in France are VERY impressed" vs. "I THINK the fans will like him".

They will all be gone when the window closes. Listening to Wilder’s interview last night, this feels even more obvious to me. We’re waiting on Premier League clubs to complete moves for strikers, which means we can then do our business and that includes allowing these players to finalise their own moves. Everything will be in place, you just need the person at the top of the chain to set it in motion. Which is why Wilder is pleading patience in the media.

Akpom, Ikpeazu, Hall, Coulson. They’re not good enough for the Boro and where we want to be. They’ll all be gone by the end of August. Forget about them and move on.

I'm confused why you keep referencing his Nigerian heritage and his name like they don't sit well with you?

If your argument had solely been is he overrated because he was a product of the Arsenal academy then you'd have a valid argument. He's a lad from London who isn't quite good enough for our team, it's a bit odd and getting a bit uncomfortable that you keep making anymore of it than that.

I hope that's not implying I'm being racist? - because if it is, you need to go back and read what I actually posted.

I don't KEEP referencing his Nigerian heritage, I've said it once and here's my exact post...

A good example is how in 2019 (3 years ago), he switched allegiance from England to Nigeria... England, who he's never played for at senior level, and Nigeria, who he's never played for since...

In actual football terms, his boots on a football pitch, it means absolutely nothing... But there's dozens of articles about it when you search his name, because it "looks good".

I mentioned him switching allegiance from England to Nigeria because it's been used as a marketing ploy to gain publicity, which is 100% factual.

It makes absolutely no difference which international allegiance he has, if he never plays an international game.

Rudy's goal every 347 mins beats Akpom's goal every 405, but he did cost an extra £3 million so you're probably right.

I think only Connolly has a worse record than Akpom of all of our strikers over the past five seasons.

I'm another who'll argue we should not get rid of Uche for the sake of getting rid.

As a comparison, his goals/minute in the championship is 1 every 267 minutes. You can argue that's 1 in 3, though we all know he's not a 90 minutes/game sort of player. His goals/minute was worse for us than it was for Cardiff or Wycombe, which says something about our service.

We know his limitations, but he has his uses too, as others have said. You cannot improve a team by getting rid of players, only by replacing them with better players. If we can't do the latter, we shouldn't do the former.

I think if they are still here at the end of the window Coulson and Ikpeazu will get their contracts ripped up, and Akpom and Hall will be given away with us contributing to their wages for the rest of the contract. Either way I fully expect all 4 to be gone at the end of the window.

To be honest, his name doesn't even particularly sound like a top footballer. Personally I always expect players called Matty to be decent.

I'd say him and that Nimely we had are the worst i've ever seen. Been going since 94 and i cant remember worse strikers with no threat, who offer absolutely nothing, no pace, no height or strength, nothing.

It's like buying a house bringing in players these days. We're just waiting for the chain to complete. Wouldn't be surprised if solicitors are holding everything up too.

I'm sure there are no problems personally with him , and don't see why he can't do the fitness element of the training with the squad
But I'm not convinced with his performances for us that we would gain more from him than putting a young striker on the bench instead

I am suggesting it has some impact. Not on their football ability obviously, but on the hype/expectation they bring to a club.

Martin Payero, 22 year old wonderkid from the mean streets of Argentina. The fans loved him at Banfield, after playing for River Plate's academy at 14.

OR... Mark Peters, 22 year old academy product from Grimsby. The fans loved him at Barrow, after playing for Everton's academy at 14.

Same player, different name. Which do you sign?
I’m from Australia, but if you wouldn’t mind posting me a little bit of whatever it is that you’re smoking, I’ll happily transfer money. DM your bank details.

Coulson has been told and he went to Portugal .... cant be that

Total opinion (could be completely wrong) but Coulson plays the same style of football that we want our wingbacks to play... He's attacking/crosses a lot/etc... Unfortunately he's just not good enough.

He might have thought training with better full-backs, and apparently a good strategic coach in Knill would benefit him for his next club... Free trip to the Algarve might have been a bonus too.
We used him as a squad player for training/pre-season, more crossers in drills, more wingers for defensive drills, and he hasn't disrupted the style of play... Win win for both parties.
