Akpom

If we are playing the AT MIDDLESBROUGH game then, do Dong Gook Lee, Lee Miller, Peter Davenport, Jason Euell, Andy Campbell.

Or are we flip flopping between record for Middlesbrough and across their career to suit your argument still?

We can play either game - Andy Campbell's record is much worse than Akpoms, 1 goal/assist every 456 (wow).

The others are all worse too, but they played A LOT less minutes... All less than 800 for us, and most in a higher division. Akpom's played well over double that.

Gestede has a goal/assist every 144 minutes throughout over 10,000 minutes of premier league and championship football. Insane stats, probably up there with the best we've ever had from any striker in 5+ years.

The only problem with him was his wages.
5 goals in 42 championship appearances over 3 seasons, or do you want to drop the one goal in 16 premier league appearances for us? part of the issue which resulted in us being relegated and a huge part of why we didn’t go back up!

without doubt the worst signing we’ve made in terms of his lack of positive contribution.
a real sliding doors moment is turning down £6m from Leeds United. I would Say bigger and more detrimental to us than the 3 points deduction.. in fact the I would go so far to say the worst thing to happen to the club since Gordon Strachan.

He’s forced his way in. He’s still young enough. Maybe the penny has dropped and he wants to prove every one wrong. I don’t think that’s necessarily the case, but it’s in his hands. I hope he proves us all wrong and takes it.

He's forced his way in. Ha ha ha. Its because we are stretched to the limit. Who would have thought he would get on before Colburn.

Can't see past Aaron Connolly as the worst in last few seasons. At last chuba doesn't have a tattoo of himself

I said the same thing about Connolly, that he was absolutely dreadful and was vilified for it by posters who celebrated when he left. Even had Neil Maddison calling me an idiot for suggesting he was a bit rubbish and ‘running around’ wasn’t enough to merit a place in our squad. But I still think he’s better than Akpom.

Again, I’m saying this having seen him play a full season for two different clubs. Hull years back, then Boro. He is awful, he hasn’t progressed, he won’t score, he will miss easy chances.

If we are serious about promotion and he ends up one of our strikers we won’t get anywhere near the playoffs.

The one thing I would say about him is I think he would make an alright winger, but never in a million years is he a striker.

Got to stick up for Andy Campbell here (admittedly, he's a personal friend).

He was played on the wing most of the time by Robbo. He was absolutely Rapid. He's a local lad who forced his way in to the team when we were in the Premier league and spending big.

I would have given my right arm to have had the experiences Andy did.

He scored the goal that knocked Man U out of the cup and enjoys legendary status in Cardiff for the play off winner.

To say he is amongst the worse boro strikers of all time is a little harsh IMHO.

Plenty have robbed a living from us and done far worse.

He’s nowhere near the worst Boro strikers of all time. It’s a subjective list anyway but lads who work their way through from 12, 13, 14 years old and get their chance aren’t really comparable to people like Gestede or Ricketts or Davenport, who arrive as finished products and contribute little or nothing before moving on.

Campbell played for Boro in the Premier League at 16. That’s not bad, is it? He went on to have a very good career in the game.
