Bournemouth gonna bid 10 mill for Tav

He's one of those 'core' players that you wouldn't really want to sell but I think it's worth remembering that we've finished 7th, 10th, 17th and 7th in the past four seasons. Up until the period just after Wilder came in through to the end of March time this season, we hadn't really pulled up any trees for about four years. Tav was a central part of the team for most of that time. There were/are shortcomings in other areas, obviously. But you think... is he absolutely irreplaceable?

We do have a group of good players but could you sell Tav and bring in two equally good players, therefore strengthening the group as a whole? Maybe the club think they can.

We know Tav has some really good qualities and is a big player for us on his day but also needs to improve certain things, the best way of doing that might be to move on and hear a new set of voices on the training field. He's been around the same environment for years. Same goes for Fry. We're waiting for them to take the team by the scruff of the neck but maybe this is sort of their limit.

As I say, we have a good core of players and Tav isn't one you'd actively look to sell but if a good bid comes in and the player is interested it wouldn't be the end of the world IMO. I like him a lot and think he brings a lot but it might just need freshening up.

18/19 - Pulis -20 league apps - 19yo
19/20 - Woodgate - 37 league apps -20yo
20/21 - Warnock - 29 league apps - 21yo
21/22 - Wilder - 44 league apps -22yo

He could have went to a prem side last season tbh. If he’s only got a year left on his contract than we can’t let him go on a free

Stick his goals and assists up too Newy, see how he's progressing there too.

The Sun:
Bournemouth are close to snapping up right-back Ryan Fredericks and midfielder Joe Rothwell on a free transfer and will also land midfielder Marcus Tavernier from Championship side Middlesbrough.

They seem pretty confident about Tav going there considering they haven’t even bid for him yet. Feels like they have jumped the gun a bit

Kilkenny,Stacey and 7m would be a good deal if Tav has his heart set on the Premier league albeit a one year stay if he goes to Bournemouth.
Use the 7m for Scott Twine and Karl Darlow and we've bought 4 players In to replace him.
Easy this football manager lark

Do you think maybe we have known this was coming?

I was suspicious that we signed McGree and Boyd-Munce in January, both left footers who play centre mid when Tav was always going to be a nailed on starter when he was available.

You would think we would have strengthened elsewhere first maybe?

Total of goals+stats is going up every season except last year was a slight dip. He did get more game time last season and his total goals/assists per minute dropped off. But maybe the change in system didn't help that. Big season for him, time to be the key player his stats show that he can be. If he can take that goal/assist every 310mins and get it down to every 270mins he'll be a championship team of the year contender.

I really don't see it and if Ryan Fredericks and Joe Rothwell on frees are their level of ambition, they're coming straight back down.

The same as Spence going to Spurs. That will happen, but some in the press were trying to claim it was all done and dusted when it appears there haven't even been discussions yet.

I can't see the club letting Tav go unless he says he wants to go.
Still time to go on his deal, automatic choice in the side with a manager who thinks he's great.
Can't help but feel like Mcgree was a decent bit of forward thinking by the club.
If he did want to leave I'd take £10 million + Jack Stacey and Gavin Kilkenny, he'd also go to the PL my blessing, been a privilege to watch his development all the way from that Bournemouth game under Monk.

I hope we don't sell though, think he could have the season of his life under Wilder and better strikers to provide for
