Dan Barlaser squits after the Norwich Game?

I think Jones is that man personally. I don't see Mowatt starting much instead of Hackney or Howson whereas Jones is a game changer and is well placed to take over from Forss if Forss is showing any signs of running out of steam. We've got a great little collection of attacking midfielders...Forss, Ramset, McGree, Jones...good to have options.
There's no reason why they both can't be

Does have a feel bit like that. To be fair Forshaw stepped up to the Prem fairly well for a little while and looked at home there. Where as in championship barely had a sniff
Yeah he was a good player, it just so happened that the two lads in the team had essentially made themselves undroppable so he had to wait for a change in system before he got a run. Similar might happen for Barlaser.

You have two players - Mowatt and Jones - who are desperate to be relevant at Boro. Remember, Mowatt is putting himself in the shop window for next season and Jones needs to get back to it. Both have motivation to do well. No bad thing for the run in. Better than two players sitting sulking.

As for Barlaser, we need to be patient. He's showed glimpses of being a good player, but overall been in the "meh, okay" category. Definitely agree looks like he's trying too hard and looks like he's getting to grips with the new system.

As with jogging off after the final whistle - fully expect Carrick to grab him by the ear and walk him around the all 4 stands prior to the Hull game while he applauds the fans. Will that put him back in the fans good books? 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

I don't see upsetting the Hackney/Howson axis to shoe horn Mowatt into the team personally.

Mowatt at his best is the nearest we have to a like-for-like replacement for Hackney and Howson. He had been doing well in his brief cameos so his performance against Norwich probably wasn't a one-off.
Barlaser is a different style of player and possibly needs to work on his press-resistance for us.
Both have been causalities of Howson and Hackney being too good to replace and not getting injured or suspended.
I think that for the rest of the season we might see Mowatt rotating into the team depending more frequently with Barlaser being 4th in line. Not that Barlaser is bad, simply that the other three are better suited to how we play.

Agree with that. I think the three you mentioned all like to play fairly simple passes and the triangles to keep us in possession. Hackney probably the most expressive. Barlaser seems to want to try the killer passes more and maybe needs a bit more time to get used to the triangles and just keeping possession/ticking over until the opportunity presents itself. I'm sure he'll come good when he gets a prolonged opportunity. Just needs to stay patient until his chance arrives.

Barlaser just needs a settled run in the side. Any central midfielder will tell you it's difficult to just drop into a new team and expect fireworks from the off particularly for a midfielder like Barlaser, whose game revolves around playing incisive passes. He's a good player, no doubt about that. He just needs his chance and a run in a settled side.

If you look at the good work Barlaser did for Rotherham, it tends to be longer more direct play, exploiting the turnover and playing through balls for their forwards. It isn't really what we do, he's likely having to make fundamental adjustments to how he sees and plays the game and that could take time.

I think if we don't go up, he'll be a key player next season.
