Gyokeres to Rangers

But more importantly the financial gap wasn't as big

That's the biggie, but also down to the player himself.

Realistically, the lad is 24/25 years old, literally into his prime on the back of a few great seasons, on the verge of the PL last season, I cant imagine he would have the appetite to head up north. Regardless of the offer of a few weeks of European football per season.

In the nicest possible way he will have bigger aspirations than the SPL.

It is not the model of OF teams to buy players at market value

It is their model to buy them at a lower price, play them against sub standard opposition for a year or 2 to vastly overinflate their values and sell them on to
teams who sign them thinking they are better than they actually are

That is what has happened for about 95% of the players they have made big profits on, can only really think of 2 or 3 players who have turned out
to be top level players and that is over the last 20 years

Champions League football?
There's a big difference between being in the champions league and competing in the champions league.

He won't enhance his salary or his reputation by playing for Rangers. Scottish football is a joke.

Exactly, teams from wales and finland fishing villages 'play' in the champions league, both Celtic and Rangers have won 1 group game in the last 15 years

Seem to fool Strachan as well

He ain't gonna go there, and they wouldn't pay the fee required anyway.

Surely he would want a step up, but Coventry are probably better than Rangers, and 90% of games he would be playing against league 1 level, at best.

Rangers linked with Mateja Frigan who is a lot cheaper at £4m- £5m
They won't be spending £15m + on big Vic .
McBurnie on a free would do for me for us , and I expect Rangers would take him too. MC will know who he wants , let's hope he gets who he wants .

I agree with you but it is a viable reason why someone may choose Rangers or Celtic rather than say Nottingham Forest or West Ham.

Playing in the group stage is completely different to the preliminary rounds though. That's not a comparison. In the group stage you are guarenteed 6 Champions League games and guaranteed to play at least 2 Major European Sides.

Henrik Larson spent something like 5 years in Scotland, so it’s not beyond reason to see Gyokeres play for one of the Glasgow clubs. It’s probably unlikely, but if a Premier League club doesn’t make a move he could do worse than play for Rangers.
Those were the days before Prem Clubs were pqying silly money for players and wages.

I would say not a chance Rangers can play in the same ballpark money wise these days.

Cov are better than Rangers I've heard it all now.

They might be like.

Where do you think Rangers would finish in the EFL championship next season?

We have first hand experience that proves loads of old firm players do not have skills commensurate with competing in the English champo.
1st. They were Europa League finalists last season.
