That would be awful and I don’t think it would be feasible to do that.As mentioned previously, it might be time to split the division into North and South.

That is what we are saying, the non-league pyramid leading to L2 would need to change and I still can't fathom how that will work but it did in the past in the old Div 3 & 4.How can that work when the top non league division isnt North & South?
I am not saying I am right but why would it be awful, what negatives do you envisage? That would be awful and I don’t think it would be feasible to do that.

You would need to change the set up of two divisions, it would also have a bearing on league one. It may also see professional clubs turn semi pro. This will have an effect on youth systems.I am not saying I am right but why would it be awful, what negatives do you envisage?
The benefits I see are the money clubs would save on travel, hotels, etc.
Look at the National League North and see how far South Northern teams have to travel......it might be time to split the division into North and South.
I've just googled and the old Third Division North and Third Division South run from 1921 to 1958 and as TeeCider states, it only worked because it was a closed shop. You would need to change the set up of two divisions, it would also have a bearing on league one. My Wembley Board game had Div 3 N and Div 3 S....That is what we are saying, the non-league pyramid leading to L2 would need to change and I still can't fathom how that will work but it did in the past in the old Div 3 & 4.
If clubs go from professional to semi pro then it changes their academy status if they have it.I've just googled and the old Third Division North and Third Division South run from 1921 to 1958 and as TeeCider states, it only worked because it was a closed shop.
Regarding the changes to L1, I don't think you would need to make any, all changes would be made to L3 and the Conference. I also feel that it would make more clubs professional rather amateur.
By the way, this is only something I've thought might help clubs financially and not sure how or if it could work.
Edit: How do you see it impacting on the Youth Systems?
But why would they need to go to semi-pro? You would be making another professional division with the North and South leagues and the league(s) under the Conference would become the highest amateur division. If clubs go from professional to semi pro then it changes their academy status if they have it.
The effect it would also have on the national league having to split also, they are mostly professional in that division I think it’s only 3 who aren’t but if you split it that would change. But why would they need to go to semi-pro? It is only a suggestion, I don't have the power to change anything. The effect it would also have on the national league having to split also, they are mostly professional in that division I think it’s only 3 who aren’t but if you split it that would change.
More money from the top should do It.It is only a suggestion, I don't have the power to change anything.
Something needs to change though to help the lower leagues or we will see more clubs going to the wall.
Do you honestly think that will happen - they need to keep their shareholders happy and are not bothered about the history of the English Football League or if a Bury goes bust.More money from the top should do It.
There are full-time clubs in National League North, let alone the National League....But why would they need to go to semi-pro? You would be making another professional division with the North and South leagues and the league(s) under the Conference would become the highest amateur division.
When I said amateur I was referring to the league rather than the clubs. If, and it is a big if, the Conference did converge with L3 and create a North & South, we would be creating a 5th professional league. There are full-time clubs in National League North, let alone the National League....
Hereford are completely part-time.Even National League North is thought to get out of, Darlo battling there with ex league clubs like Chester and Hereford.
