How good was that

No not at all but last night was all about the result.

Leo is not our manager it’s not his job to build on a formation or long term strategy he was asked to take a side at home in the bottom 3 that had not won in weeks and had only won twice all season.

He did that snd he won.

No analysis needed keep that for what comes next just enjoy those three points.
I don’t think anyone is disagreeing with that around Leo, but we also need to have some realism as well as if it’s too much of a love in we might end up with Leo as manager

Leo is the man for now, never has someone from another country been more boro than boro (inc Juninho). Hope he brings the 3 points Saturday, but hope he doesn’t get the job

It was late when I posted last night ok canter might have been too strong but my point was that we didn’t really look in danger at the back like we have before it was settled and assured something we haven’t really seen all season.

To win one nil is always a good result as it shows game management the ability to see a win through again something we’ve struggled with.

I also liked the use of subs and the timings ( although Giles did raise a few eyebrows I guess he had Saturday in mind).

I thought we had plenty of urgency, besides it's no good running around like headless chickens when you can easily get picked off like we did against Coventry. Team looked very well schooled tonight, passing was several levels up and more importantly we maintained the levels for the 90 minutes -- when have we last seen that type of performance?
We started both halves very slowly. The subs helped in the second. It surprised me because I thought everyone including the fans would be bang at it last night.

Over the moon we won but I honestly didn't see much of an improvement, main things were having a proper 2 up front which stopped us being pinned back so much and Hackney being much more mobile in midfield.

We could easily have drawn or lost that game and i don't think it felt like we had it under control.

The result was the main thing of course and it was vital to win. I just don't think we have suddenly turned a corner based on that performance.

Sometimes chest banging, badge kissing and fist pumping can just be an act to get fans onside but in the case of Percovich it seems to be the real deal and a true heartfelt bond between him and the fans, he knows the status quo within the club and might be more amenable and adaptable to working within that framework than someone coming in from outside, the one thing I think he could do with is an experienced number 2, in part Woodgate's downfall was appointing Keane, if he can get an old head alongside him who can steer him away from the worst pitfalls and provide training support at Rockcliffe, then it might just work....the obvious downside is currently he has a job for life by taking on the Head Coaches role then one day he'll have to go.

Players and fans both respond well to him, and whilst it's a big gamble given the parcity of alternatives it might be the most sensible and least disruptive option open to us, give him a few games and see where we are at, the other thing is if we win Saturday and we appoint someone else then there's additional pressure on them to hit the ground running as a section of the fans will say we should have stuck with Leo.

You’ve just explained what the improvements were.

They were little things but they were significant. This is the championship all games are like that but a win is all that mattered.

Top sides have a measure of control. Hopefully that will come for us.

The thing I always look for is how big does the pitch look when in and out of possession.

For me last night, the pitch still seemed way too small when we had the ball and way too big when we didn't have the ball.

It's going to be a bit of a slog this season I think.

Thought the performance was very, very poor and the atmosphere in the ground not much better. No pattern to the play, hoofing it into the channels again, sloppy. We’ve played much better than that and lost on numerous occasions this season.

Plus points. The win, obviously. Thought Fry was good at the back against Deeney and Hogan. Steffan made a crucial save and looked assured (especially after that howler back pass).. and Leo. Would have meant the world to him that. So glad he got to say he managed a winning Boro team last night.

No, you can call a spade,or anything else including calling me whatever you want. But I’m calling that a win with Leo as manager in the first game in charge and post the Wilder period is a bit more than the usual drivel. You only seem so delighted after I called this. Unless of course I missed posts of more enthusiasm elsewhere.
I haven’t called you anything and I wouldn’t do that anyway, especially just because of disagreeing about a footy match.

I didn’t realise I had to write out that I was pleased with the win. Thought that was a bit of a given for a Boro fan tbh. I’m new here so maybe I need to read the rules of the board a bit more.

Very aggressive round here isn’t it? Don’t think I deserve to be on the end of that just because I don’t think we played all that well but again maybe I haven’t read the rules.

Very happy we won but it was no better than anything that’s gone before and quite a bit worse than a few performances this season. Leo being in charge doesn’t change that.
No Crystal Ball.. just eyes.

But you said we’d of definitely lost if Stewart had played for Sunderland. Must have a crystal ball?

Yeah I must not have eyes because I didn’t think we played all that well last night.

Unforgiving place this. Post an opinion and get all of this crap.

I honestly don’t think last night was about performing well though as I say Leo had a brief that was prob do you best and don’t get hammered. After Saturday morale will have been in the floor confidence all but gone so to pick the lads up and get a win any win is a bloody miracle frankly.

Bear in mind that was only our third win all season as well.

It was bloody brilliant and if he wins again he’ll have beaten 50% of the points wilder won all season in less than s week.

I agree. Last night was all about the result. But surely I can still talk about the performance?

Some serious rose tinted glasses from people.

3 times better?
Won at a canter?

Let’s have a beat of realism eh?
Wilder has 10 points in 11 games.. that’s less than 1 point per game. Leo is currently 3 points per games! Wilder won 2 games out of 11.. Leo is 1 in 1

What we have to do to get back into the play offs is a HUGE undertaking. Automatic promotion form just to guarantee the playoffs (80 points) playoff form just to land us mid table!

I honestly think we should stick with Leo, Liddle, Tinkler & Cattermole.. we need a bit of magic to make anything happen this season. We need personalities. Hackney being introduced is a great start.

You are insufferable. Quoting ppg after 1 game and making comparisons based on 1 game

Hope he brings the 3 points Saturday, but hope he doesn’t get the job
Being realistic the next manager needs to hit automatic promotion form to look like they’re doing anything! They are never gonna better Leo’s speech. So do we give them a chance to have a good season finishing 10th big re-build in the summer.. then kick them out after 10 games if we don’t make the top six next season?

We need some magic, we need some academy gems to step up and we still need a rebuild in the summer. Let’s see how far we can get with this current set up..
