I recall Simon Clarke

What about the hard left? Equally as dangerous in my opinion. I 'dislike' any form of extremism. At the moment we have a leader of the opposition who isn't 'labour enough' and now tory activists are saying Sunak isn't a true conservative. Political pundits suggest the election will become a race to catch the moderate centrists. It's easy to see why.
Whataboutary doesn't do anyone any good.

The hard left? There is no hard left.

Labour is full of thatcherites and the tories are full off these absolute head the ball barstard children of Britain First and the Eton Soggy Biscuit Gangester Capaitalists.

Crooks and Racists.

At the moment the best we can hope for is these career politicians trying to pass them selves off as a fit for purpose Tony Blair remnant. The Lib Dem’s have taken over!

In mainstream politics maybe so.. but the undercurrent is there. Equally though the right may dispute the 'hard-right' tag which now appears to be applied liberally to anyone who doesn't share some modicum of socialist ideology. Lee Anderson is a different story though I will give you that....

Doesn't really matter what simple Simon thinks. His gravy train is not far from hitting the buffers of a G.E. - thankfully.

He can go earn the big bucks (as he once commented) that he ought to be earning.

He has sacrificed enough for us don't you know. Delivering record levels of child poverty into his constituency. Good job.

Posting on twitter that one of his constituents should "**** off" Teesside Live wasn't interested.

But for some strange reason they are interested in this.

It's really not language that I ever use- I tweeted the day Dominic Cummings was giving evidence to the "Covid Enquiry" Where he agreed that he and most of the top people in 10 Downing Street used, shall we say, not very nice fruitful language, much worse than I would even tweet.
Clarke of course fully supports the people that was in charge of Downing street at that time, and has never complained about the language used.

He did of course tweet this

Still- It gives the copy n paste merchants that Reach now employ, some practice at writing I guess.

You should have said you thought 'Wit' was the name of the tory aid he wasn't married to.

Politics is getting dirtier at local level as well as national , aspertions cast on Gazette site , its a dirty game now , why the hell people bother i do wonder

The OP and all of them need to GTFO social media.

On a side note It’s interesting to read people slag off Musk left right and centre like it’s the new in vogue thing since he took over Twitter and then still use it obsessively like lap dogs lining his pockets.

Journalism and politics are in the gutter when carried out on social media.

Nope, I posted facts, whataboutary comes only when other say, yes well what about....
Whataboutary can also use facts to try and deflect from themselves.

For example, when someone gets in trouble for using inappropriate language so they then point out that somebody else also used inappropriate language before they did.

There are some things on gazette comment page , care to ellaborate,? i hate the way you politicians fling 5h1t at each other constantly about dodgy goings on etc , but mask aspects of life that could impact on decision makers
Happy to, but I don't read the gazette, much less the comments page. I've made it very clear that I will reply to members of this forum to the best of my knowledge, no serious question is out of bounds as far as I am concerned, as a councillor, I do after all help spend your money.

I made it clear that it is not language I normally use, but it's not language that is shocking on the social media scene. I made it clear the reasons for my use, others haven't, I'll always be open to my reasons- they aren't always right of course, but none of us are.

Ok will cut to what they said , did you change yr name to become a councillor after being declared bankrupt as a fellow councillor alledges?

its all so very dirty in politics now , all about scoring points on SM & b***r the electorate

OK. But I don't think you can see the whiff of whataboutary in that post alone.

LOL. Stop believing these idiots- Independent Councillors, all supported by Preston.

The answers, did I change my name to become a councillor. NO
Have I ever been declared bankrupt. NO

I own my own home, mortgage free, bankrupts or indeed people with debt problems- which lucky enough, I don't, can't be in that position.

I produced my DBS when the crank Preston called me a crook to prove him wrong, he's yet to produce his.

Just a point of order there Lodger.
'Bankrupts' (as you charmingly call them) are actually able to rebuild their finances and believe it or not, eventually are allowed to purchase property.

I was a Bankrupt myself once and luckily I wasn't thrown into debtors prison, and after my period of penance was able to buy a house (don't worry, nothing too grand).

I still have a mortgage so I'm not quite as awesome as you, but that will be paid off eventually, hopefully before they put me in a paupers grave.

We'll definitely be getting into a t*t for tat on the hard right and the hard left front. The conservative part is very much hard right.. it's policies and proposals cannot be described as anything but. The Labour party is very much chasing the disillusioned Conservative voter, trying to attack and welcome all and sundry from the Liberal Democrats.. the socialist ideology has 100% been put on the back burner in favour of winning votes. Socialist Labour members and MPs have been chucked out.. there is no hard left in the labour party.. not even a soft left.

Blairites and then some.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.. just as long as folks know what they are voting for.

I mean decency is very much lacking.. but politicians innit.

The political parties at the moment are very concerning beasts and I think personally they probably need to split for the good of the country:

Green - Corbyn & McDonald
Democrats - Bercow & Burnham
Liberals - Clegg & Keir
Conservatives - Cameron & May
Unionists - Johnson & Sunak
