I recall Simon Clarke

Just a point of order there Lodger.
'Bankrupts' (as you charmingly call them) are actually able to rebuild their finances and believe it or not, eventually are allowed to purchase property.

I was a Bankrupt myself once and luckily I wasn't thrown into debtors prison, and after my period of penance was able to buy a house (don't worry, nothing too grand).

I still have a mortgage so I'm not quite as awesome as you, but that will be paid off eventually, hopefully before they put me in a paupers grave.
It certainly wasn't a brag, I had a mortgage for 25 years and like most struggled, especially in the early 10 or so years. I live in an ex council house in my ward of Berwick Hills, it's hardly Wynyard. But we're happy where we live, we've now been here 30 years.

We'll definitely be getting into a t*t for tat on the hard right and the hard left front. The conservative part is very much hard right.. it's policies and proposals cannot be described as anything but. The Labour party is very much chasing the disillusioned Conservative voter, trying to attack and welcome all and sundry from the Liberal Democrats.. the socialist ideology has 100% been put on the back burner in favour of winning votes. Socialist Labour members and MPs have been chucked out.. there is no hard left in the labour party.. not even a soft left.

Blairites and then some.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.. just as long as folks know what they are voting for.

I mean decency is very much lacking.. but politicians innit.

The political parties at the moment are very concerning beasts and I think personally they probably need to split for the good of the country:

Green - Corbyn & McDonald
Democrats - Bercow & Burnham
Liberals - Clegg & Keir
Conservatives - Cameron & May
Unionists - Johnson & Sunak
There is nothing liberal about Starmer.

Although you did insinuate you are a cut above 'bankrupts' who apparently can't own their own homes.

"I own my own home, mortgage free, bankrupts or indeed people with debt problems- which lucky enough, I don't, can't be in that position.

Where are the Whigs?

Is that not because if he was bankrupt the official receiver would have initiated a sale of mortgage free? An IVA would require you to take out a mortgage.

The bankruptcy doesn't stay on your file forever, it is there for 7 yrs. Even during that time you can take action to start building your credit score.
I got a mortgage 11 yrs after bankruptcy.

To say the fact he owns a house proves he has never been bankrupt is not true and pretty ignorant.

that's not what I or he said though, so if we're talking about being ignorant...

What Lodger said was the fact he owns a house is proof that he has never been bankrupt. That is the point which is incorrect. And irrelevant. So I think demonstrates ignorance.

I'm not really sure what point you were making tbh. When I declared bankruptcy I lost my home so had to start again. After a couple of yrs I was allowed to save money and eventually got a mortgage a few yrs after the bankruptcy was removed from my file.

Lodger didn’t vote Labour last election.. so it a bit of a redundant point. Better luck next time eh.. let’s take it to the polls.

Nothing can be done right now.. kicking up dust snd segueing gets us nowhere. Learn the lessons and get better, be better.. ask for better.

I've been a member since 1988, and voted Labour in every election. No idea why you think I didn't vote Labour!
