"Thoughts on Starmer’s speech:
As a performer, he makes ‘Empire’, Andy Warhol’s unchanging 8-hour film of the Empire State Building, look like ‘Die Hard’. But he’s the leader of the Labour Party, not an actor, and he’s up against Liz Truss, and in comparison with her he is as riveting as the 92nd minute of a Brighton-Palace derby when we’re 2-1 up.

Far more importantly, the policies he proposes are much, much better than the Tories’ and will genuinely help the most vulnerable people a lot and do something for the planet. Anyone who says that isn’t true is guilty of cognitive dissonance. Just look at this government.

They don’t go anywhere near far enough. And they don’t include PR. But if helping the people suffering the most is your primary concern then stay in/vote Labour as a starting point and get involved in the process. That’s what Robina and I intend to do.

If you disagree, as many of you doubtless will, fair enough. I’m not sure the argument can go any further now. As a next realistic step I’d like to see Andy Burnham back in Parliament ASAP."

Have you watched? If you had you would see that Starmer's Labour Party are mired in racism, corruption and possibly law breaking and that the perpetrators are the very same people who weaponized anti-Semitism in order to get rid of a truly transformative leader. They didn't want a Labour Government then, why should I vote for one now.

Ok I'll play along. In this weeks news I have seen documented evidence of Labour using racial profiling to build dossiers on Asian councillors in Newham, even following their children to school.

That much of the data in the dossiers was very probably acquired illegally.

The Party refusing to address requests to explain how they got their hands on the information in the dossiers.

The Suspension of CLPs in order to prevent them taking part in the democratic process in their constituencies.

That complaints of racism against black and asian MP's and party members is largely ignored.

I learned that 56 Jews have been investigated, suspended or expelled from the Party on charges of anti-Semitism since Starmer took over. All of them sympathetic to Palestine.

That Jews are 6.3x more likely to be investigated for AS in Starmer's Labour than non Jews.

That a newly elected Jewish member of the NEC was suspended within a fortnight to prevent her from attending the conference. Of course she supported Palestine.

That a black woman in Manchester who was supporting another black woman in the council elections, where she was standing against a serving black woman, was kicked out for racism.

That the Israeli government is influencing the Labour Party directly.

That Starmers Labour are in the pockets of Zionist organisations like BoD, Labour Friends of Israel and Jewish Labour Movement. Jewish Voice for Labour - whose members are actually Jewish - is proscribed by Labour. They support Palestine.

That the AS scandal was totally fabricated by the party to destroy a good man and prevent him becoming PM.

That Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International and an Israeli human rights organisation have all declared that Israel is an Apartheid State.

That Starmers Labour throw all their support behind the racist apartheid state that is Israel.

I've only scraped the surface here, there's so much more that I can't recall off the top of my head. You'd have to watch it.

I havent watched it and I dont intend to watch it.

I am not a Labour party supporter by any measure, but I will vote for them in a heart beat if it means an end to this living hell of a Tory government.

The good of the country over the good of the individual.

look at how the Labour party is doing the Tories job for them by tearing themselves apart, destabilising themselves and effectively making them unelectable to even their own party members, let alone a big chunk of centrists who could vote ether way..

The 1922 committee must be pi$$ing themselves laughing at the shambles. The Tories dont need to defeat the left and the Labour party, they just need to defeat whichever 10% of the Labour party and the left decide to vote.
 
The majority of voters will prefer Tory or Labour or more accurately right wing vs left wing (neither of those are dirty words by the way, extremism is a problem but being left or right is perfectly legitimate). The number of people who are bang in the middle and would flip-flop between the 2 is relatively low. Parties do well at elections when they get all of their side to vote for them, not necessarily when they win votes from the opposition. When Tory voters aren't happy with the Tories they don't vote Labour, they just don't vote or they might vote Lib Dem or someone else "harmless" in their constituency like an independent. When Labour voters aren't happy they don't vote Tory, they vote Green, some local socialist party, Lib Dem or Independent or they don't vote. A huge % of voters will vote for the same party whatever. I think leaders think that % is bigger than it is so think they can get away with more than they can.

Surely for Labour it makes most sense to try to win all of the left by being somewhere between Extreme Left and Centre Left. Move too far left and the centre left stop voting Labour, too centrist and the left stop. You can't ignore one side and just expect them to vote for you. Centre-right policies is suicide for the centre-left just like communist policies would be for the left.

The Tories have less of a problem with losing votes because there aren't as many other options on the right. It's either Tory or don't vote. The key to winning an election for Labour though is getting turnout up for left-wing voters and convincing them to vote Labour, not one of the other left-wing options. My guess is turnout will be lower than recent elections at the next election because a lot of Tories don't vote.

Politics doesn't work if people vote against the party they want to lose. You might get a change of leader but nobody gets what they want. It legitimises policies people don't agree with. Look at how many people trot out nonsense like "left-wing manifestos have been rejected". Labour didn't win under Corbyn but his policies were extremely popular, and would be beneficial for far more people in the country. Corbyn's manifest wasn't rejected, Corbyn was rejected and Labour's Brexit position was rejected.

You should be voting for the party that best represents your views. We only get one chance every few years to indicate what we all want. If we are all playing around and voting tactically then that indication is wrong. If Starmer wants everyone on the left to vote for him then he needs to include them, not exclude them. He needs to include policies that they want other wise he'll find himself winning some swing voters but losing his base and ending up no better off.
 
Thanks for that. The right wing of the party and the BBC behaved shamefully towards the Labour Party leadership.

The anti democratic behaviour of the Friends of Israel and others should have lead to expulsions, it didn't, it lead to leadership and philosophy change.
