People sh*tting their pants in August again

We had the better chances, and gifted them the game through our own ineptitude.

Could easily have been level at half time, and then Engel gifted them the match, with Smith making sure of it.

I'm not sure we'd have deserved the point, mistakes are still mistakes even if they shouldn't be happening, but on another day, we'd have got a point there.

Smith shouldn't have been on a yellow card to begin with, Latte Lath missed a great chance that he'd created himself, Engel's brainless backpass.

The fourth goal obviously ultimately came from us chasing an equaliser with 10 men.
I was gutted with the way we give goals away but we created enough to get a point again.

Hopefully we can cut the crap defending out and I think we’ll score enough, just maybe not as much as last season.

I guess its all about perspective. Everyone wants to hit the ground running but ...and I know its boring... the season really is a marathon and not a sprint.
Last season QPR went top of the league after beating Wigan at home on October 22nd yet finished the season battling relegation.

In the last 10 seasons (including this one) Boro have played in the Championship we have only won more than 2 games out of the first five played on just the one occasion, which was under Tony Pulis in 2018/19. We won four and drew one but finished the season in 7th place. We normally win just one or two. Over that time we have finished 12th, 4th, 2nd, 5th, 7th, 17th,10th, 7th and 4th last season.
While we are concerned we might suffer a Woodgate style season from 2019/20 chances are we will be top 10. This means in February we will hopefully be discussing our chances of the play-offs. That is the Championship for you.
As an aside in the 2003/04 season we drew one and lost 4 in the first five games. We conceded 12 goals with that dodgy defender Southgate at the back. Apart from nicking two 1-0 wins against Everton and Southampton we lost six of the first 9 games but eventually beat Wolves 2-0 on 1st November. Seventeen weeks later we were at the Millenium Stadium celebrating winning our first major trophy. That is the beauty of sport and football in particular, you just never quite know how its all going to pan out.
UTB!

I don't think it should come as that much of a surprise that people would be worried that we're yet to win a league game and have lost 3 out of 4, off the back of a season last year where we came close to promotion and were genuinely great for six months of the season.

14 or 15 games?
We have won 1 game since April. It’s a similiar run to we had under wilder where we initially won 10/12 under wilder, i much prefer carrick btw never liked wilder albeit I still believe if his head was actually fully invested in the club we would had success. We hit higher heights under carrick but we didn’t ship goals like we do now under wilder. Carrick for me has huge potential and hasn’t imo been backed properly and I don’t think he will In the next few days however he’s inability to switch things up and still not fix our defensive frailties are very very worrying. We lack a plan b. Stick with him of course he’s a good manager, but he’s definitely struggling and clearly frustrated with the ongoings at the club

So.. after losing Akpom, Archer, Giles, Ramsey etc.. we should immediately be churning out 3 points per game?

35 points after 23 games would be 1.5ppg and show we were on track for a play off position.. after 23 games.. before the January window.
We’re on a awful run conceding huge amounts of goals every week. We finished last season awfully struggled to break down imo a Coventry side who didn’t have the quality of class we had they were a well drilled side who hit it long to gyokeres who was like a dog on a beach chasing a ball, preston in march was our last decent performance even the 5-1 against Norwich we were just completely ruthless didn’t play particularly great, same applies to hull at home. So we’ve went 3 football months without one real performance we have lost our best players, and replaced them with unknowns. We have a few days to get the much needed quality in we could have that beat qpr go on a run and never look back, it still could be our season know one is throwing the towel in, but so far it looks bleak. We as a club and team are in a real low. Let’s not deny the reality of where we’re at people aren’t bedwetters for seeing this

Wilder rode on Warnock’s success.
Warnock’s record was comparable with Karanka’s.. albeit after inheriting an absolute dog todd of a squad.

His previous season faltered as the likes of Bolasie, Mendez-Laing and Kebano became injured or had their eyes on pastures new!

Warnock was victim to this cross over form from the previous season and was hampered by the injuries of Dijksteel, Fry, McNair & Bola.. much like this season with Dijksteel and Smith being injured, RVDB was injured just before the match, McNair is on his way to pastures new, Engel is straight in at the deep end.

FOUR GAMES

Let’s not be daft.. I get it.. we’ve conceded some sloppy goals.. we should be ready.. but we’re not.

Feel free to tell it as it is, but ffs.. all this not won since April garbage needs knocking on the head.

As for Archer & Ramsey.. fcuk em! Giles too!

Why do you keep going on about last season? This season does not compare.

3 football months.. you’ve got to be taking this pish now!!

We most definitely are replacing with unknowns seen as we haven’t finished our transfer business!!

The window shuts 1st September.. if we’ve not done the business then questions can be asked. If the results don’t turn around.. then criticism can be aimed at.. whoever!

But this run away auction of runs of games and durations beyond the four games we’ve played has to stop. It’s idiotic and embarrassing!

I’m sorry but your chatting absolute ****, how the hell was warnock record similiar to Karanka. Warnock done a commendable job got us out the mess we were in karanka got us to 4th place finish automatic promotion the following season, the season warnock was sacked we were in the bottom half. Completely awful full negative football, he needed to go. Wilder picked up a bang average championship side and made us play off contenders he didn’t “ ride “ on any success we were in the bottom 8 when he came in ffs. I don’t like wilder but he had us playing some great stuff initially. It’s not crap to say we haven’t played well in three months and are in awful relegation level form. It’s the reality wake up.

Like I said we could beat qpr on Saturday have the players in needed and go on a good run, and never look back. And the bedwetters will be proven wrong but atm people are rightfully critical and concerned of the awful form and situation we are in, we are worried about the fact we have lost ALL our best players replaced them with players who so far don’t look on the same level we have lost around 50 goals from last season, we haven’t played well since mid march. Our firepower seen us through hull and Norwich neither were standout performances. We finished the season poorly and have started even worse with our best players gone, this could all change but so far it’s been awful. I don’t know how you can deny it. We’re not conceding “ sloppy goals” we have been hammered in two games and couldn’t get past a god awful Huddersfield team. Hopefully this changes

Just the results.. they were the same.

Karanka played quite negative football by the way.. lots of passing lots of possession. But quite a negative approach.

Warnock played quite positive football.. annoyingly positive.. peppering the box. Less possession than Karanka.. but also less money for transfers and loans available.

Let’s not forget.. Warnock at 74 is in work right now in the championship. Karanka at 49 is out of work and hasn’t worked in the Chsmpionship since March 2021

Where is Wilder again? What has he been up to? Another one out of work?

Yup.. because he’s dreadful.

The form can only be based on the four games we’ve played and consideration needs to be taken regarding the players still to come in snd the injuries we’ve had.

Genuine criticism for me would be..
1. Why the fcuk are we waiting until deadline day to sort out 3,4,5,6 first team players?
(We all know the answer to that, we are not in a position to dictate when players come in and offer there are many factors that will effect how and when players come in)

2. Why are we sticking with last seasons shape snd plan when we don’t have last seasons players to carry it out?
(consistency, sacrificing short term flexibility gif long term organisation)

I don’t rate karanka as a manager. They both came into different circumstances if your comparing the two in terms of achievements there entirely difference your saying they have a similiar win rate and success when they absolutely don’t karanka got us promoted yes he was backed but he still delivered what was the objective. His man management was poor, but we were on a different level under karanka compared to warnock. Regarding wilder I believe he is the master of his own downfall, he is arrogant and deluded but he has us playing good stuff until the Burnley speculation. He wasn’t happy with the recruitment team and the fact we didn’t get the players in we at the time needed. We finished that season poorly started poorly and look what happened we finished last season poorly and have started this one poorly and have not recruited well. It’s the same trend again. It’s worrying hopefully it’s not a repeat and we pick up form again but you can’t deny the reality is we are in awful form and are conceding heaps of goals. Let’s hope it changes because I’m not actually sure it will

Karanka was manager for longer.. while he was here Warnock’s record stood alongside Karanka’s in much more difficult circumstances.

Wilder was for Wilder.. he is a total blag and a slug of a man.

When have I said he wasn’t? We all know what wilder was. But your missing the point we finished that season poorly and started poorly under wilder and he got the sack. The massive key differences are carrick is a much better person a much more likeable person who WANTS to be here that’s my hope and pray it won’t end like it did under wilder. But there is massive Similarities how can you say there isn’t? We finished poorly under carrick the transfer activity in the summer hasn’t been up to scratch like it wasn’t last season and we have started awfully. Am I wrong? Your right about wilder he is a compete tosser but he did effectively express his frustration with the transfer activity and it wasn’t for Chuba coming into his Own we would have been relying on hoppe and muniz we started 22/23 with a poorer squad and we have this season aswell. I don’t know you can deny there isn’t key worrying signs occurring again. We better hope we don’t lose carrick because we need to turn this god awful form around or he could sadly end up losing his Job by October

The difference is finishing the season poorly because of the manager or the players.

With Wilder it was the manager. With Carrick and Warnock it was snd is the players.

Wait, what? Who said we should churning out 3 points per game? I would honestly be okay with 4 points at this point.

We currently have 0.25 points per game, and for me that is not a good enough start. There are examples of other teams that deal with losing their best players better than we have (Coventry for example).

I think the thing is that the run of form under Carrick before January showed that we had actually recruited fine last summer.

Those players were good enough to win 8 in 10 just started the season badly.

I personally think the players are good enough to be in the top 10 again this season - just starred poorly again.

Much like early season last year - we have had more chances than the opposition - but mentally have looked weak. Leading to cheap goals, missed chances and a lack of points.

Last year it escalated until the performances absolutely bottomed out and mentality turned around with sacking Wilder.

Can Carrick turn the mentality around?

I'm hopeful
