Whilst I don’t necessarily agree , this sort of behaviour would be ok if the rest of the nation would use their common sense. Sadly they won’t and there will be parties, large gatherings and mixing of multiple families. In a nuthsell sir
My 2 lads from London will be with me at xmas

Couldn't agree more with the OP, another lockdown just for a few days of Christmas is insane. I've had over 30 Christmas's before, so missing out a year is fine by me.
You couldn't make it up .............. but they did !!Is this idea been decided by SAGE?
This SAGE?
SAGE used dodgy data from WIKIPEDIA to model Covid crisis in spring
Professor Ian Hall, deputy chair of the SAGE subgroup SPI-M, said: 'The public may be surprised that we were using Wikipedia - but that was really the only data available'.www.dailymail.co.uk
Wikipedia? Yeah let's follow the science.
Anything decided on using SAGE advice is now redundant in my eyes. The levels of failure at government, at SAGE, at NHS staggers me.
We need more like you - if the rest of the country were as measured in their approach we would be in a much better position than we are now.FatCat - you should know by now. My common sense is bob on

This.Couldn't save Eid or Diwali could he.
In fact he put Bradford into level 3 the day before Eid just in case people started to congregate together in large numbers to celebrate birthdays , weddings or religious festivals whilst there was a pandemic on.
I'm not at all surprised.Morning fella
Frontiers in Public Health (focus on peer reviewed papers) have an article this morning.
Conclusion is ‘stringency of measures to fight virus, including lockdown, did not appear to be linked to death rate’
We normally go to France for Christmas with the wife and cabin up in a cosy cottage, so not seeing people over Christmas would be the norm for us. It is the elderly or people who live alone I worry for.People will ignore them anyway, so I think it's being done as a bit of a fait accompli, and at least this way it'll look like it's happening because they've allowed it.
There's not really any other reason to allow it to happen except they don't think it's enforceable to prevent it.
Infections and deaths don't stop at Christmas.
We have a number of elderly neighbours, in fact 4 in a row over the road from us .................... we speak to them on the front regularly and they all have the same attitude as your Dad. That doesn't mean they are having swinging parties but it is noticeable their siblings are checking on them regular. We normally go to France for Christmas with the wife and cabin up in a cosy cottage, so not seeing people over Christmas would be the norm for us. My father is in his mid eighties and is starting with dementia, how do you tell him that family cannot visit him on Christmas day or he cannot attend my sisters as normal because the bubble is too big.
I'm presently isolating from work after a student tested positive. Last week my dad walked to my house (it is not far but he's not to clever on his pins), when I answered the door he proceeded to walk in and I tried to explain he couldn't come in. He replied 'you only die once' and walked past me into the kitchen to see my wife. I fully understand the need to isolate and protect others, but how honestly could I turn an old man away from my door without offending him.
It is, but everyone has differnet defiitions on what that means. Close famliy could be 10 people, some of whom live awayClose family sensibly getting together is what I said.
