I personally thought he was awful apart from the goal.

I see what you're getting at, but he really was poor i thought.People keep saying this "apart from the goal, apart from the assist blah blah". If he does end up staying a whole season I can see him having 10 goals and 20 assists and people will be saying "if you take away all the goals and assists he's not been very good."
Exactly, and as he matures, he will make less mistakes, be more of a threat more oftenPeople keep saying this "apart from the goal, apart from the assist blah blah". I wouldn't compare Rogers with Rhodes or Britt in the slightest. Rogers isn't an out and out centre forward for starters and he does do other things very well. He's young, developing and has shown talent that has a top premier league club wanting to splash the cash. his record this season speaks for itself. By far our most effective player when it comes to goals scored. Take that away and you leave a bit of a void I would say.I see what you're getting at, but he really was poor i thought.
I much prefer Rogers, but as a recent example - Britt Assombalonga was always ****, even though he did pop up with a few goals. But he was **** to the point where it was detrimental to the team. He couldn't even control a football. And his goals were not enough to excuse his performances.
Rhodes was similar, while i admit he scored some important goals, his all round play was truly garbage for us.
Yes it's ridiculous comparing him with seasoned strikers who cost big money. You might as well compare him with Joe Lumley.I wouldn't compare Rogers with Rhodes or Britt in the slightest. agreed he was effectively double teamed by a season international legend and a fringe england defender. and sometimes triple teamed with a 100m CDM. He rarely had a player within 25 yards to pass to either. Scored a great goal and had a couple of runs before being mobbed.I didn't think he played badly at all last night, especially considering playing out of position and feeding off scraps.
Those comparisons with Rhodes and Assombalonga don't work at all for me, as Rogers does so much more than score the odd goal. I think he's literally created more chances for others than the rest of the team put together this season. No way Rogers and Rhodes ever did that.
Britt and Rhodes you mean of course. Agree with the comments above . Rogers I thought was the only player who didn't look out of place last night and didn't get and support. Scored a really good goal and had our best effort in the first half too. We will miss him. Shame that his talent wont develop with us.I didn't think he played badly at all last night, especially considering playing out of position and feeding off scraps.

Ayling, Greenwood, McNair, O'Brien, Howson? and maybe Jones (the keeper) aren't here after this season so that seems like a bit of an odd statement.Sure Carrick has said he doesn’t want players that won’t be here beyond the end of the season. I can’t see us loaning anyone.
The only reason we loaned Ayling is due to injuries.
Ayling could be, he's out of contract in the summer and I think he has school age kids. He won't need to move to come to us, and really were one of 3 or 4 clubs that are possible for him at the right level and ambition and the right location. I think he lives Harrogate way, which makes us perfect, Hull are probably a good option, after that ? Sheff Utd if relegated, Huddersfield?Ayling, Greenwood, McNair, O'Brien, Howson? and maybe Jones (the keeper) aren't here after this season so that seems like a bit of an odd statement.

Or did he mean signing this January?
We simply can't knock back a player who improves the first eleven, gives us a 'chance' of promotion, and an opportunity for our youngsters to learn from (I'm sure Coburn could learn a lot from training with Moore for 5 months) for such a reason in my opinion.
If we had a hard 'no loans' stance I could understand it, but what is the difference in loaning someone for a season or half a season? You're in the same position at the end of the loan in both scenarios?
True but when you sold him Bowen was taring up the Championship so Rogers fee won't be anywhere near that if we sell now. Rogers has been patchy and in and out the team at least until everyone else became unavailable. The posts above sum him up. He has games when he's anonymous or loses the ball all the time but even in those he tends to have one or two moments of quality that result in a goal or a near goal. That's what Villa are looking for with the hope they can improve his general play so the quality moments increase in frequency. In terms of ability and potential, from what I have seen, he reminds me a player we once had by the name of Jarrod Bowen.
We sold him for £22m.

Steady on.So did a very young Cristiano Ronaldo, he turned out alright though.
