If the racist response to young footballers making a peaceful statement makes people feel uncomfortable then good, it is having an impact, and drawing a line in the sand.
Either you're with the footballers who want to do their job without receiving horrendous abuse in their social media mentions, when they're on the pitch, and when they're just going about their lives or you're with those who up until about 6 years ago had been pushed to the far corners of the shittiest pubs to spout their bile.
EDIT: The taking of the knee was meant to be a call for the football authorities to come up with a plan to make sure there wasn't just platitudes and slogans. I think they are trying, but they're not moving quickly enough, and I 100% get Britt's point about gestures becoming wallpaper for lack of tangible action.
