Surprise surprise HS2

But it is still going to be a High speed train to Manchester. Just without the train going at high speed.
Reminds me of Boris and his don't go to work but go to work fiasco.
 
Manchester scrapped, all HS2 money being diverted to improving rail infrastructure in the North.

We'll see what transpires...they have a good track record for breaking promises with impunity

  1. The PM pledges to "reinvest every penny" saved - which he says is £36bn - in other transport connections in the North, the Midlands and across the country
Not necessarily in the North - carefully worded to sound like it, but the money is going to be used across the country with no specific amount spent in the North.
 
£36bn will replace 2 or 3 Northern Rail Pacers with the rest of the money disappearing......

........or £35.99bn to be spent on the Midlands tram system......which * shock * has a Tory mayor. What a mental coincidence 🤯
 
Looking forward to the new plans, which include:

New central London to Watford underground line
2 new bridges over the Thames to improve links between the north and south of the city
New subsidised ebikes scheme for Greater London
New fleet of electric London busses
Refurbishment of around 100 London underground stations
And a new coat of paint for the bench in Hartlepool train station waiting area.

They have already announced that the capital budget for next year is to be drastically cut . They will then have to cancel projects that have been announced over the last year. This will of course include all the projects announced today.
What a Billy bullshitter.
