That’s it then. No Deal

It's not all bad. We've just signed a photocopy of the EU - Singapore trade deal. Liz Truss delighted to secure ongoing export trade for our chewing gum industry 😗
Millions of pounds spent and another identical trade deal. It irks me that the country isn't more angry when she announces these "continuity" trade deals. People don't seem to understand or care that we are spending so much to ensure our trade remains the same (I.e. didn't improve despite our "sovereignty"). In my opinion the entire country should be upsetthat we have reduced our own freedom of moment, isolated ourselves from our neighbours and weakened our country, all to spend billions negotiating trade deals that are exactly the same as the ones we have.

Still, at least with this one we'll still be able to get Dyson Vacuum cleaners.

We frequently mention history on here dont we? Personally I feel I have a duty to commemorate significant events in Military History, in which I have a particular interest.
We know there are posters on here who have served in all three Armed Forces, whether as a Territorial [such as myself] or have served 22+ years or more in the Regs.
The last post was yesterday evening regarding Cuts in the Military Budget and the Suspension of Reservists:

M.O.D To Make £1bn Cuts including suspending reservists.

Thread starter r00fie1 Start date Yesterday at 9:56 PM

We have also had threads on the subjects of:

* The Engagement of Commonwealth soldiers - during Black History Month.
* Honouring and remembering the fallen and those serving on Remembrance Day.
* The Battle of Pearl Harbour.
* The First World War.
* VE Day
* Prisoners of War and the Burma Railway.

We have also had "discussions" and exchanged banter about the services:
Unfortunately the RAF were unable to participate due to a shortage of white handkerchiefs and silver T-Pots.
The Navy did attend, but the Army were stood-to and ready as always!

Those Japanese soldiers who held out for 30 years after WWII ended, that was a half-hearted effort compared to some of the fanatics on this subject
And those of our soldiers who were tortured and starved to death.
You are spot on.

Its having that perspective (y)

Nice to see you remainers are so tolerant of those that hold different opinions
There is no requirement for tolerance of intolerance.

Your 'different opinion' has cost me my Freedom of Movement across the closest landmass to my home.

It has cost the country billions which could have been better utilised feeding people and preventing Covid.

It has given the intolerant a banner to get behind.

Your opinion is horse-**** and deserves to be treated as such.

thanks that's nice.... Make sure you give those boots a good clean before you use them.

All we can do now is try to understand why we have made such a tragic mistake.

It starts by those who made the mistake acknowledging it has been a mistake. Then we can hold those responsible for leading us into this mess to account. Otherwise we will do it, or something equally stupid, again.

EU releasing their contingency plans. I wonder if we've got any or, like the notices to stakeholders, well have to use theirs to understand whats going on and what needs doing.

Yawn

Typical Brexiteer response I'm afraid. A large swathe of them don't have a clue what they voted for or how bad it a going to get.

Sadly, instead of admitting this, they doggedly stick to their guns without providing a single "pro" argument. It's sad that the country has been destroyed by people who can't explain why they have destroyed it
