Warnock relying on goodwill to keep him as manager

I was one who welcomed him into the club - and after he saved us from relegation I had high hopes for much improved times under his stewardship.

And now? I really have become disillusioned with what he offers us. Poor results - except when playing a lower positioned team, the lack of progress, the team having issues all over the pitch, a lack of will to win, these are the most noticeable.

We have a manager on a pre retirement mode, an owner who is so reluctant to action what most think should be actioned a manager who blames all and sundry yet steadfastly refuses to accept any blame - depressing scenario.

It appears we are prepared to accept mediocrity, poor results without Warnock being questioned. This has to be wrong.

The club is more important than offering a farewell tour. Warnock is cute enough to use wise words towards Gibbo and the fan base- no doubt in the hope these factors over ride our form since January.

This to me has to be wrong. Sentimental attitudes really need to be matched against reality.

And the bottom line is we are failing. Some super optimistic amongst us feel - without foundation- that he still is the man. I can’t subscribe to this now. No progress, no hope and, it appears, no desire from the top to alter this.

Depressing.

Fair comments, pretty much sums up how I feel this morning. My biggest worry is who comes in next - let's face it Gibson's record of appointing managers over the past 15 years has been generally poor. Will Kieron Scott have a bigger say? Depressing times indeed ☹️

Agreed.

The annoying thing is, although it's a little thin - I really think we have a top 6 squad on paper.

That good week where we got 3 wins against 3 absolutely atrocious teams seems to have ever so slightly masked a big problem.

And there is absolutely no,point in paying up Warnock’s contract either given that we won’t do much this season now. Save the money until the Summer

At times we play good football.
And twice we've been one win away from the play-offs.
Admittedly last night's second half was a shambles.
I'm still on the fence tbh.
I think we're set up for a run and the players need to share responsibility.
A lot of it is down to individual concentration.

Since Scott was announced it felt like this season was a season of nothingness until Warnocks replacement is found.

Our record against the top half of the table teams suggests that Warnock isn't capable of challenging for promotion with the current squad so I think we're stuck in midtable mediocrity.

I would keep my powder dry and not spend money in January, unless it was on a player identified by Scott for the new manager.

Warnock is still in massive credit for me. We would more than likely be in league 1 it wasn't for him.

As things stand we are still only a decent run away from a play off spot. If we can Bamba and fry together more often than not we'll be in a much better position.

Coburn is a massive plus, I think we might have really found one there.

That header last season and his goal yesterday are signs of a real natural finisher, coupled with his physical attributes, as long as he has his head screwed on and good people around him then he could be excellent.

It's not all gloomy, plenty of silver linings in there.

Very fair points there to be honest.

Good post and this is where I'm at. We've had massive injury problems in defence that not many teams could deal with over a pro-longed period and despite all that we're still not a million miles away.

I'm not saying 100% we'll make the playoffs but I don't think we can be written off just yet. We're just one of a big bunch of teams in the championship with not much between them, as the table reflects.

More negative comments, knee jerking and bedwetting after individual results...
You never learn ☹️
Genuinely interested. Was getting rid of Mowbray a knee jerk in your opinion?

Mowbray's last year and Warnock's run of form from January aren't that far apart

Why is that? Why did the appointment of Scott mean that we had to write off our season? I genuinely don’t understand!?!?

Not really individual results though is it?

We have only won 6 games this season all against struggling teams - Bristol City, Forest, Sheff Utd, Peterborough, Barnsley and Cardiff.

The last two defeats we have conceded 5 goals in a combined time of about 8 minutes.

We are woeful. There is no game plan, no togetherness. Warnock's hand has been forced to play certain players because of injuries and a lack of players to replace them.

Next up is West Brom, at the Hawthorns. Does anyone really expect us to get anything? I think (and hope) this could be Warnock's last game.

we've had a very unsettled team, what with the new players coming in and the injuries we've had.
I did actually agree with Warnock's comments the other day that if we can keep in touch with the top 6 and make some good signings in Jan we can have a proper go at the playoffs.
It doesn't really seem worthwhile kneejerking and bringing someone in now; presumably part of Scott's mandate is also to find a new manager.
Having said all that, last night was still massively disappointing.

What happens when we beat WBA, do the negative brigade crawl back under their rocks again ?
What makes you think we'll get anything from that game? What have you seen in our recent performances that suggests anything other than a comfortable home win?

I was mocked when I said we would beat Barnsley and Peterborough to get back on track and we went a step further and beat Cardiff as well....Anyone with half a brain can see that Warnock is getting there. First half was excellent. Injuries and fatigue taking their toll in the second.
Some people simply have to be negative all of the time...
