Just to follow up on that, you only have to look at the non-Minister Tories who are most prominent in the media to see how far intellectually they have fallen.

You wouldn't trust the likes of Anderson, Clarke-Smith and Gullis to run a bath.

I’ve always thought the Tories lacked intellect, they select on the basis of who you know not what you know.

I think that probably depends on your age.

I grew up under Thatcher and although I didn't think much of them as people, I think they were serious in getting stuff, that I might not have agreed with, done.

With this lot, they just announce stuff and then either don't say how they will do it or try and do it even though it is both unworkable and illegal.

The Illegal Migration Act is a prime example. It goes against international laws, doesn't even pretend to do what it says and even if it did wouldn't work.

I was around under Thatcher and she was just as clueless as the present lot.

A lot of the current problems are rooted in the Tory policies of the 1980’s.

They are incompetent, always have been, but have a first class propaganda machine.

Oh they will be wiped out. Just not to the extent that table suggests. I think I mentioned 100-120 seats for the tories. I hope it drops below 100 as that will be seen as significant and will move them to the third party, I think.

I agree. The significance thought isn't the % lead Labour have, it's how low the Tory % is, which is why the numbers I posted from Electoral Calculus are so stark.

They can lose "safe" seats with only a modest Labour/Lib Dem increase in vote share. Such is FPTP.

I think they'd have to go quite a way below 100 to be the third party. Can't imagine the Lib Dems recovering enough to get 80/90/100 seats.

Not sure stu. Made the comment without checking. What I would say it's that a fair number of tory seats in areas where they just will not vote tory will go to the lib dems.

In other news labour are about to add electoral reform to their manifesto.

I honestly think if they did that and campaigned on it the Tories would be wiped out.

Standing on the doorstep with voters and saying that their individual votes would matter more in the future would be huge.
