Mackem Delusion

Another thing they won't admit is that commercially Boro are competitive with Sunderland despite the fan base coming from a much smaller area.

Ergo we get more fans per capita from our fan base and our fans are happy to pay more to support their club.
You have had Steve Gibson as chairman since god was a lad and for that you lot should be eternally grateful.

Sunderland are punching, but I mean that as a compliment. Mogga has got them getting results, picking up points while playing okay. This without Stewart for the bulk of the season.

Over the course of the season Burnley and Sheff Utd have been the two best teams in the division, no doubting that. Table doesn't lie (unless you ask Woodgate.......😉). I don't think we will catch Sheff Utd, they may be having a blip but expect them to sort themselves out and get promoted. BUT. Stranger things have happened, so we'll just have to keep plugging away.

The Sunderland game was the worst we have played under Carrick by a long way, we were shyte start to finish and Sunderland deserved the win. Even a few weeks later, it's a head scratcher as to why we didn't show up.
I think a lot of our players struggled to handle the atmosphere to be fair. Their fans would take that comment as an insult of course and argue against it......"We didn't make much of an atmosphere, we treated it like any other game because it isn't a derby".

He is good TBF. Half as many goals as Chuba too 😁 from the same position. Done well to get back in the team after being benched recently.
Think a fairer question is who are the most influential players in the league for example Howson is nowhere near the best player but he is certainly your most influential player in your style of play

Chuba is very influencial to our style of play. He drops deep and is clever at finding those little pockets of space.

In fairness, a big reason why we struggled at your place was because you sat deep in the midfield and cut out the supply to Akpom, so he was having to drop even deeper, into areas where he couldn't influence the game.

If you get promoted would you offer Akpom a big money contract considering he has only really produced in the last 6 months?

Joao Pedro
Joao is a talented boy, but he doesn't apply that talent anywhere near as often as Chuba. Chuba is mentally stronger, has more intelligent decision making and of course puts it in the onion bag more often. Of course Joao is only young, and might be a better player one day, but today, he isn't

Would definitely be worth the gamble. He's always been a decent footballer but his goalscoring record hasn't reflected that.
