Not feeling the Coronation at all…

I would consider myself a bit of a Royalist having enjoyed the last few Royal Weddings and was glued to the TV all day for the late Queen’s funeral but I just can’t get into the Coronation at all.

I quite like Charles in all fairness but I think it is the way Camilla has been propelled into the role of ‘Queen’ rather than ‘Queen Consort’ or Princess Camilla’ that has soured the whole ceremony. Phillip was a Prince, I think with Comilla’s history she should have held a similar title, not just Queen.

I also wonder if it is due to it only been 6 months on from Queen Elizabeth’s funeral? He could have waited a bit longer, much like his late mother did.

I won’t be watching it live. I’m off for a bike ride. I’ll record it and watch the highlights later on tonight.

Who’s watching and who’s not bothered??

EDIT - it might be like quiche… no one would choose quiche, especially a Coronation Quiche!!!!
I object to the whole thing on so many levels so I won't watch any of it.

I hope you all have a lovely day Norman, it is a shame the republican lady is going to miss out on some company and a good old chin wag, such a get together wont be all about the events in London I’m sure. It was ever so thoughtful of her to contribute to the festivities and nice to know that despite her views she clearly isn’t bitter about it and hopes everyone has a lovely time together, quite refreshing really.
I don't think any republicans, myself included, are hoping that people have a bad time to be fair.

I do think Charles should have allowed William to take the reins straight away, this would have been a massive leap forward in terms of modernising, as he connects much more with the younger generations who may find themselves a bit distanced from the Royal family but we are where we are.

Aye read a few comments on other social media sites gleefully looking forward to protestors causing a nuisance and being happy it's going to rain most of the day.

Not me. Don't agree with it, think it's a load of bollox.....but I'm sure a load of those front row on the Mall will think the same of me sitting down at the Riverside on Monday 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

The context of Paris vs London is around the false claims that the royals have a significant impact on our tourist industry, they don’t.

There are clear similarities in two countries having heads of state that are lifetime and installed by birthright and treated with absolute deference. I’m not arguing that our entire society is the same, it isn’t but this element is a clear synergy. It’s not insignificant issue to share with such an appalling regime either
One word sums that up - bollox

France gets more than double the number of international tourists than the uk gets. The monarchy could go tomorrow and we’d still get the same number of visitors. Difference would be that we don’t have to pay royal salaries and the buildings would be publicly owned (as in France) so more money for the citizens. History doesn’t get erased, people still come and look at the palaces but this time they can go into all of the rooms. Win win (except if you’re a royal)
We are comparing Paris & London and not France and England.

Feel free to enlighten me why with something other than infantile comments…

I’ll continue to show you images of peaceful protestors in handcuffs purely for disagreeing with the concept of hereditary power and z30 foot walls erected around groups of people to pretend they don’t exist
