Just finished posting New Music is it safe to turn the TV on. Think I will go get shopping in just to be sure.
The classic example of someones life being mapped out for them before they are born.Edward got into Jesus College Cambridge after getting a C and two Ds at A-level. Wonder how that happened?
Fcuk the monarchy.
The Nazi party were "National Socialists" nominally. Russia is as much a "Republic" as the Third Reich was "Socialist"Russia is a super power with great wealth albeit in few hands, it is a republic with a president, it once had a Monarchy too, it went well afterwards.
You scornfully gave examples of Republics, including Russia as a reasonI agree because other republics have flaws isn’t a reason for continuity, but then i never said it was.
As I said the existence of the Royal Family legitimises inherited wealth and privilege. All those Stately Homes kept going with grants and such. Sorry if you can't afford to look after the castle sell it or give it to the state. Your great xn Grandad probably stole it anyway. Perhaps we could back date The Proceeds of Crime Act 2002? (Also covers your rather weak equivalency of the drug cartels.)You can have the best of both worlds. Inherited wealth and privilege wouldn’t end with the monarchy now would it? I am sure many people inherit wealth via various nerdowells too, drug dealing cartels, Mafia bosses etc.

Camilla - just shows how two faced and sycophantic the British press are. Slated, called worse than sh*t when it came out about her and Charles.
Now? Princess Di an airbrushed memory.
Hurrah Queen Camilla!! (even though the Queen specifically stated she was to be known as Queen Consort, but Charles changed it.......but he's good at changing laws etc isn't he.......)
The coronation concert tonight looks a bit crap. You'd think it'd be a bill filled with British acts not Lionel Ritchie and Katy Perry. Where's Queen, Sabbath and the Quo
Funny the Republic of Ireland not mentioned but Russia isThe Nazi party were "National Socialists" nominally. Russia is as much a "Republic" as the Third Reich was "Socialist"

The Championship didn't get cancelled. The last game of the season has commonly been on a separate day to rest these last few yearsI'm honestly not interested in this, I'm neither a lover or a hater of the royal family, I just see it as bit of an inconvenience I guess.
I completely understand that the royal family bring a lot of tourism into the country which is a good thing but I just don't really get the hype of a coronation. I'd rather just have a normal weekend of football
It's also baffled me a little bit how there is premier League games on today when the championship got cancelled.
Well saidThe thing is we are all born into chance are we not, we are all influenced by luck, wealth of parents, inheritance, opportunities from where we go to school, who our parents mix with, who we befriend, how career opportunities develop, hard work does not always pay, who you know can also enhance personal development. Do you think Presidents regularly get the chance to be elected coming from poor backgrounds, state educated, no personal wealth, but just happen to be good talkers who want to put others before their self interest?
Most people on here will put themselves and their loved ones first before others, look after their own lives trying to improve their personal life chances, wealth etc rather than focussing on putting others first. People seem to like the opportunity to lay blame and complain whoever is the leader of a country and always will. There will always be injustices, some better off than others, bitterness and jealousy will never be eradicated, the wealthier people get, the more they want to indulge themselves in the trappings that come with it. Better houses, nicer areas, quality cars, luxury hotels, 1st class rail trips, humans are programmed that way whether you live in a republic or within a monarchy.
That would be George V you refer to, the reality is despite him withdrawing the invite, which was undoubtedly for selfish reasons, fearing it might see support for the monarchy fall. However, it is widely believed the Bolsheviks would never have allowed them to leave Russia in any event. Nevertheless, it was still a cowardly decision by George V.And who was it who sacrificed the Romanov’s in their hour of need???
Absolutely this, the amount of energy and time people have wasted on the thread instead of just getting up and pressing the off switch on the remote.
Gary Barlow, just grovelling his way to the kings honours listLots of big names apparently turned it down.
