I'm sure he deserves it, and his performances look great on MOTD etc, but lamenting his departure is futile several years later
Shocking business in hindsight is what you are basically sayingAnyone could see the potential he had, it was certainly clear he was going to be worth a lot more than 10 million one day
Even without that it was clear he was significantly better than the strikers we had at the time, or anyone we have brought in since.
Shocking business
Think pretty much everyone said at the time it was shocking business too, pretty obvious to everyone he would go on to be a good premier league player.Shocking business in hindsight is what you are basically saying
we got a fair price for him at the time we sold him, for the experience he had under him.
he worth 30 mil now because he’s scoring goals in the premier league
Disagree, we got a fair amount for himThink pretty much everyone said at the time it was shocking business too, pretty obvious to everyone he would go on to be a good premier league player.
You don't score 17 goals in the championship as a young lad without clearly having huge potential. £10 million was anything but a good price at his age

I personally dont see Bamford being good enough for the international stage. Plenty of strikers have had a good season in the Premier League and not followed it up - he also missed a lot of chances last year.
Its a big and different step up. International football is slower and much more defensive, even some of the great players dont stand out. The so called poor teams are more organised and harder to break down than ever before and very physical something Bamford isn't good at.
I'm happy for him as a lot worse have had caps but i don't see this being a long lasting thing
Yeah. Short term you can understand why someone like Pulis would be worth a gamble, but medium term it’s done us no favours at all.Theres a leeds doc on prime in which Bamford says he couldn't believe it when boro accepted leeds offer.
Orta was at leeds by then and knew boro were trying to balance the books after the money laid out by monk and not going straight back up.....
Pulis is on record as denying he didn't want Bamford, Braithwaite, forshaw, Harrison but they clearly weren't pulis players and he rarely utilised them to their best so he didn't exactly try and keep them.
You can't really knock Gibson but the pulis era and the footballing and transfer decisions made while he was there by whoever were the nadir of the Gibson era.......though strachans time comes close
Don't forget the Bielsa impact on Bamford. He turned a poor bottom half of the championship team into a solid Premier league team with pretty much the same players.
Hes turned Phillips into a first choice England CM.
Bamford should never have been sold, to f****** leeds of all clubs, but tbf it'd be a bit of a stretch to say he was an England player or ever would be when was at the boro.
Good luck to him but this is spot on.We have a real dearth of quality strikers at International level and this just compounds it.
Theyd had one good season under monk two years before bielsa joined and finished 13th the year before. I know a few leeds fans and they say they were nowhere before he cameI think this is largely a good point, but Leeds had twice only just missed out on the play-offs before Bielsa was appointed, their revival had already started.
