I did edit my post for clarification tbf. It’s not me even suggesting it, it’s my ex and my current partner who wants a kid. This covid crisis couldn’t of come at a worse time with my girlfriend just turning 35 as she likes to point out every 5 minutes. She wants a kid, she tells me all the time, one of us would have to stay at home and financially it would make sense for it to be me if I’m earning 10k a year less than her, that’s all I was saying. It’s not about having a kid for financial gain, it’s about how messed up this country is it is for both me and my ex and my son to be better of financially if I didn’t work. My employer has behaved scandalously, they love a crisis and any opportunity to make more profit down the line. I wouldn’t choose to do it but why would I go to work when my current partner would be the considerably higher earner? I currently give £400 a month to my ex for my son, her business isn’t probably going to survive covid, financially she would be better claiming if neither of us are earning any money. Again it’s probably not the morally right thing to do and it wasn’t even my suggestion but you would have to be pretty dumb to do the morally right thing if it makes everyone worse off financially.
Anyway this is going off on a tangent and for that I apologise. I just don’t agree that Brexit will have a big impact on my industry as the previous poster suggested. Again, it’s just predicting doom and gloom to fit an agenda and that annoys me. I work in the industry, the majority of our turnover comes from trans Atlantic travel and in particular business travel. Brexit won’t have a huge impact on many airlines unless countries like Spain decide they don’t want British tourists and all the money they bring in. I do find the timing of the announcement of needing to quarantine from the Canary Islands again both funny and frustrating, it’s blatantly politically and Bexit motivated. They were almost begging for British tourists to return, its huge for their economy also for airlines, for some airlines it makes up 50% of their bookings.
